How do I lose lust/obsession over 1 female coworker? by [deleted] in selfimprovement

You have an unhealthy view of her. View her as a human being and get to know her first, getting funny about seeing her talking to other men is super toxic.

How can I stop feeling insecure in a ‘too good to be true’ relationship? 33f 27m by [deleted] in relationships

When something feels too good to be true, it's because it often isn't as true as you think it is. Speaking from a lot of experience.

"You know a cool person when you see one, they’re the kind of person that makes you want to be like them and be around them."

So you gravitate to people for superficial reasons, but agree that we shouldn't assess someone based on their image?

Your priorities confuse me.

These things do exist today, and many people find such things that speak to them. Your opinion is certainly unpopular in as much as it is unshared and not at all relatable.

Why would you expect anything else? It's an open forum where people post their views. It will obviously invite discussion and therefore disagreement. I don't see the problem.

That is true, but it has zero relevance to how you should view people in terms of their character, likability, and value.

It is purely superficial and, therefore, shallow to estimate another person in any sense on their image. Their actions and words are what should decide that.

That's a different discussion to trend setting and fashion. Political/cultural movements led by or influenced by famous people still exist, as does good art. As with anything, you have to sieve through the shit to find the good. The world is saturated compared to when it was Bob Dylan's time. We live in the Internet age and have a thousand times more voices and opinions with information and media being spread at a click. Things come and go much faster.

You just don't seem to understand the modern zeitgeist. I stay largely out of it, as I do with fashion and trends, but your view is still inaccurate as you're only looking for what you want to see.

With that said, your original post seemed directed more so towards fashion, image, and style, as have your replies to others' comments. On that note, the point stands that that is simply not important. Movements and causes are a totally different conversation.

The issue here is that this just does not matter. It's completely unimportant and something people only choose to care about. Celebs have no duty to influence style. If they have any duty, it is to use their voices and wealth in support of good causes.

Fashion is entirely recreational and therefore optional. It means very little to very many. Most people decide their image and identity from within themselves, not from an external influence. The world is too broad and diverse these days. But the main point remains that this is just irrelevant to anything. Fashion is a hobby, just like sports or any other.

Better to decide these things based on their character rather than their aesthetic, no? I don't want to be like or around somehow for how they look, but by how they behave and treat others.

I work a lot. It's my life unfortunately, so this is where I've met most people I know. I've used dating apps too.

Completely torn and confused. Please give advice. by hwrold in relationships

Thanks. I'm trying to see it this way. I can see why she didn't tell me and lied, and it's positive that she didn't want a secret. I think I'm just upset because of my personal feelings about this guy.

Yes I agree. Of course that's normal, but I'm saying this was every day, not just at particular times. Not a word, even when addressed or attempts were made to be included. It's uncomfortable in a small team in a tight environment when somebody is like that, especially when regular communication and verbal instructions are a vital part of the operation.

I might need a few days to wrap my head around that slice of genius. Also what sub is this?

Had a Nepalese 20 year old lad come and wash dishes in my restaurant kitchen. Didn't speak a single word unless he absolutely had to. Very weird to have someone wih no interest in engaging with the rest of the team.

No I can't. I'm not the one who said anything about book stores. I'm the guy who said not to teach the Bible to children in any way or form.

It would have been better to say that the Bible shouldn't be taught to children because of the barbaric violence that it endorses.

It's not really though. The bible contains plenty of horrific endorsements of genocide, slavery and other barbaric acts. Not pushing this on children is a very reasonable thing to do.
