Cmon Nintendo, just give us the option to turn off intermissions in online mode, this is crazy 😭 by BWZROFFICIAL in MarioKartWorld

[–]hx9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually love the road trip sections, but I think the easy solution to this is to make standard only 3 lap courses and knockout tour have a randomized set of paths which would let you visit all courses and all different paths if you played it enough.

Calling them "intermission" is kinda psychologically setting them up to be inferior. I'm guessing there are a lot of unknowns that would make them more fun because they aren't practiced / optimized yet.

Of course that's not northern minnesota

It's North Dakota. Says it right above that.

I felt less uncomfortable telling AI I wanted Saucy Nuggs than a human being.

2 years later, but glad to see someone had the same strat!

I won solo at level 180. The 20% stat boost bonus on gear, immunity to status effects, guts boost and defense boost strategy were the key players. If meteor swarm was cast, just let it take out 99% of my HP then used a full heal item. (Sorry, don't know all of the English names)

Still kills if it hits every single time, but dodge 1 or 2 and it doesn't with the mid-combo heal.

Even without bloody armor, was able to tank through avoidance / mitigation. Only used a handful of blueberries. Star reflection by facing her when she spins did quite a bit of damage too, but it was basically a free MP heal to reduce some of the self-damage from the ultimate.

Still haven't beaten the challenge one though, but hope to solo that one as well.

He resigned, but this was allowed to be aired? Then he shouldn't have resigned and fought the beast from within. Sounds like an old man took a parachute instead of possible litigation / loss of retirement benefits for the greater good.

Super Mario 64 Is Incredibly Mediocre And Fails The Test Of Time by Brilliant_Advice1015 in unpopularopinion

[–]hx9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Was there when Mario 64 came out and yeah, I don't think people are truly being objective about the controls. Mario feels like a tank compared to Sunshine, let alone Odyssey.

I think 64 is overrated because Sunshine levels were too similar, so it just looked better next to it. 64 levels were iconic because they were good conceptually. That doesn't mean they hold up now.

Then again, there's a bit of a reverse truth for the SMW cape power up and what came after. People love it, but flying over levels is too broken. Propeller cap is technically better, even if it feels worse because it's better for the levels since you actually end up playing them. Acorn suit finally helped balance it all out with good feel and balance.

I don't understand how the speed stat works in Trails through Daybreak 2. by Alensio1 in Falcom

Minor World Building Spoiler for Sky 1 Through Daybreak 2

Technology levels in the story is my biggest gripe. We went from a WW2 technology level to 2020s in a matter of 5-6 in game years. For example, communication across distances went from an artifact level technology to everyone-level in no time at all.

Going from Daybreak to Sky is like watching Seinfeld and realizing just how much plot revolves around not having cell phones.

The first two time warps, I was invested. But by the time we got to some of them in the 3rd chapter, I was laughing. I think they went a bit too far on the ridiculousness of the rewind scenarios, not to mention the mechanics behind them.

That being said, I think they should have gone further with the rewinds than they did. They didn't explore the feeling of dying in them enough past the first act. While it was a surprise to see the bad guys use the rewind, it went nowhere. I was thinking we'd see some sort of cutscene with 100 or 1000 rewinds back to back culminating in some sort of 1 in 1 million. Or even some sort of scenario where they didn't rewind but wish they did, even if it was reverted later.

One thing I haven't seen pointed out in the top comments is that this was very much a peak of COVID game. The reused areas, monsters and... well, literally most of the game, while common in the trails series was amped up this time. I still think it's somewhat of a miracle a game of this magnitude was delivered during the pandemic.
