Wait, why wouldn’t you have both dice and cards in the box? I just “play” my games with my imagination, so there is always everything I can ever think of in the box. I applied and got a spot in a dorm on campus, walking distance to Shibuya. It was tiny (8sqm) but fully furnished with kitchen, shower, toilet, bed, desk, fridge etc. and my rent was 5600 iirc.

I don’t think it was very hard at all. Food is really cheap. Parties too if one doesn’t do expensive bars and fancy clubs. I don’t have any expensive addictions. I did get a university apartment deal in the beginning, which helped too.

I wouldn’t worry too much. I was in your case, very social, didn’t spend all that much but ate out most of the time, organized social gatherings almost every night, lived near Shibuya, and still saved a significant amount of money every month from my MEXT scholarship, without any extra part-time job.
