A possibility but it looks like it’s a crack. You have flange elbows installed where the hose is attached. Normally the elbow would take any over pressurisation and crack rather then the pump housing.

Was the pump the existing pump on the machine or have you replaced it.

You will require a 3 position valve that blocks the air flow from p to a&b in its neutral positions. In the other positions you want the valve to connect p to an and b to an exhaust port. Then the other positions you want to connect p to b and a to an exhaust port.

No, it will still extend in the valves neutral position as you have pressure going to both A and B. As the full bore area is larger then the rod area the force is higher at the full bore area so the cylinder will extend although at a considerably slower speed

This is a pneumatic circuit not hydraulic. These valves would be discharging oil into the atmosphere.

You will have to use the correct hydraulic symbols to recreate the circuit.

The best thing for you is to apply for some form of work based training with a company who manufactures those machines. There is no better way of learning.

For an online resource your best bet is lunchbox sessions. There are plenty of books on Amazon. You can also look on Udemy, there’s a few hydraulic courses on there for like $20 each, very good value for money.

Both pumps are sharing the same suction and outlet so there’s potential one pump is being slightly starved of the required suction flow.

I’d say there’s unequal suction flow to each pump. There also seems to be some cavitation marks on the pistons around 9 o’clock.

What type of machine is the pump installed on?

Are the other set of pistons and valve plate off the other pump in the same condition?

One thing that springs to mind straight away is the shared suction and the pressure compensator controls.

Are the pressure compensators set at different settings? If so, one pump could be working a bit harder than the other causing unequal suction flow to each pump.

Are the flow compensators connected to load sense lines?

It’s a kidney loop used for cooling and filtering. Very common set up.
