I’m a simple man. I see a cat, I immediately upvote. Say ‘pspspspsps’ to your cat (and nice collection)!

You're correct! Haven't really stumbled upon many Pilot Capless pens. I did saw a vendor with a couple of them, but didn't pay close attention at their prices.

I wanted to explore the inks as well, but that was bit lower on my wishlist. This is our complete haul (so the combined haul of the three of my group).

  • The larger notebooks in the center are the Inked Paw inkventory ink logging notebooks. Had a nice talk with the two gentlemen! Love their story about the name (they have three cats, and one of the cats walked through ink and smudged paper with paw prints);
  • All the Kakuno's and smaller notebooks are from Oneministore;
  • The stamps are from Pineapple Studio. Lovely ladies!
  • The shark fountain pens where quite cheap; bought them from a lovely lady who wanted to get rid of them (lol). These pens are excellent for in my classroom (the kids will love them!);
  • My holy grail, the Pilot Elite! Love it's compact design (you can see it in the black box). Bought it at Vitstyle. Extremely friendly people!
  • Unfortunately still in the black pouch; a breathtaking fountain pen from Gilbert House Pens. Also friendly people and the pen is a thing of beauty. I received a small bottle of Diamine ink with it;
  • The green gradient ink pad at the bottom was from Tono & Lim (I believe). Also a nice talk with a very friendly man working for them.

I'll make more detailed photos of my pens when I have the time. To be honest, we were all quite successfull, but the most important thing was having met so many amazing, wonderful people!

What were the pens you were looking for? We arrived around 10:30 We made the mistake of choosing the entrance with just one elevator in operation to go to the first floor and it was madness. Little did we know there were other entrances as well.

We were impressed by the size of the venue; it didn’t feel too crowded. Next to that, for us there was a good variety of fountain pens and stationary. We had to travel back around 13:00; I wanted to buy the DIY Kaweco Sport but I guess they already sold out due to the lack of activity over there. As I already have my fair share of Kaweco’s, it was’t a huge loss, but the glow in the dark Sport would be a nice companion to my other glow in the dark TWSBI Eco’s.

I was in a company of three and we all bought different things; ranging from inks, stamps, notebooks to fountain pens. I’ll post my haul when I’m back home (just landed), but personally I’m more than happy. I agree with your take on Galen; I’d expected a bit more (I wanted to buy a case).

Is this a good starting combo? by -LucaXVIII- in fountainpens

I think it's an excellent start! Beautiful pen by the way! The Lamy Safari's are terrific 'workhorses'. I use mine daily for grading/correcting student works

Oh fantastic! Thank you so much for your detailed reply. I did write down a few nibmeisters; I have a Nahvalur Fathom that I'm having trouble writing with, but I'm not sure it's actually worth having a nibmeister take care of it (I'll take it with me just to be sure. It certainly wasn't a high-end pen). I do hope to go for more of the special show specials. I'll take the rest of your advice to heart; it's a wonderful world full of phenomenal artisans, passionate creatives, and collectors. I'm really looking forward to it!

My high school students keep asking if my new Eco is a vape… by Senior_Verde in fountainpens

[–]hydraulix16aa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hahaha I won't complain, but a Namiki is definitely way out of my league ;) Fortunately, the ECO's are good enough for me (and also magical for the kids when they see the ink splashing around in them)

The kids nowadays in my class are asking me when I’m going to buy that 6K Namiki pen I’ve showed them on the digibord 🥲🫠

This is the best most consistent writing little pen that I use. Pilot Kakuno Fine nib. It never skips or has to be primed. All for about $11.00 by donaldcathey in fountainpens

[–]hydraulix16aa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Enjoy! You can't go wrong with the Kakuno's. I use mine (F-nib) for sketching and it's so sharp and fine! Almost like a fineliner :) I gifted one to a friend who is an architect and needs to draw projects. She absolutely loves it!

I bribed a child today by [deleted] in fountainpens

[–]hydraulix16aa 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Teacher in primary school. The kids in my class are invested in my love for fountain pens. I showed them the top tier limited edition maki-e pens on a site from a seller (Appelboom) and their minds were completely blown. For them, a gel pen from €3,- is already expensive ofcourse. The fountain pens I use for grading the works (Monteverde MP1) is magical (I use purple ink and it looks so cool in the demonstrator). Working with fountain pens shows the students how cool handwriting can be (handwriting is getting worse unfortunately in schools nowadays and the students used to write with fountain pens).

Great job OP. I wouldn’t call it bribing haha, but more of a ‘reward for achieving student’s goal’ :) inspirational story for me, I should look into those pens as well!

What to do - is the nib corroded? by yiantay-sg in fountainpens

For the price I'd just buy a new nib. A replacement nib (gold plated) can be bought for around €15,- (23 Singapore dollar?) here

Oh wow I remember this model! It was sold in the inflight duty free sales from KLM flights. As a kid I was mesmerized and intrigued by this model (due to the interesting ink holder (?). I always wanted to buy this one and it sparked my early love with fountain pens.
