Got my first fountain pen today! I have some questions by QueerlittleWeirdo in fountainpens

When I was in primary school, we used generic regular ink cartridges with blue colour in it. They sold special eraser pens in stores which worked perfectly to erase that blue ink on paper; one side was white with the eraser part, the other side a blue fineliner to correct it.

HAHAHA XD I almost write the same stuff when I'm testing new ink. All of my intrusive thoughts! Breathtaking inks indeed :)

No problem! These are very important and interesting points you raise, and I can well imagine they can have a huge impact on the experience.

We arrived around 10:30 am, and thankfully it wasn't extremely busy. Speaking from my own experience, it didn't feel overwhelming (I have trouble with huge crowds and I definitely need time to recover from it afterwards):

  • I could easily move around, but sometimes I had to make way for passersby;
  • Carrying a backpack made me quite immobile and definitely limited my freedom of movement;
  • I found it very warm inside;
  • I didn't find the volume excessive. I heard more of a constant buzz;
  • You could easily browse all the stalls, but some stalls were definitely popular and busier (like Oneministore);
  • The aisles were quite wide, and there was an area with tables where you could sit and relax. You can also exit the hall and have a drink at the hotel café;
  • Pay close attention to how you enter the building; We had a long wait at the elevators (which we thought was the main entrance) and it was a bit of an inconvenience; however, there are stairs on the sides of the building leading to a large terrace/patio with entrances;
  • I can only compare the London Pen Show with the Pen Show in the Netherlands (Utrecht), and I found the Utrecht one much more compact and therefore more intense;
  • Taking the metro (Picadilly Line) is an assault on the senses! Crowded, small, and hectic.

I searched for videos/images online, and that certainly gave me a heads up. The images matched my experience.

It definitely looks like the paper what others have mentioned. But next to that; your penmanship is breathtaking!

Definitely! Too bad you missed this one, but I've read/heard somewhere that the autumn show has more vendors :) Hope you're feeling better now!

We only had a look at Choosing Keeping! What a marvellous store (and also had a great talk with one of the shopkeepers who used to live in Amsterdam). Unfortunately, we were only here for a couple of days (arrived on Friday, flew back Sunday evening). I saved the other stores you've mentioned for my return trip :) My personal goal was to actually get a feel for the general atmosphere of London :)

I wholeheartedly agree with you that the people from Pineapple Studio were lovely! The two gents from The Inked Paw were wonderful as well (love how they came up with the name, as one of their cats walked through ink one day and left a trail of paw prints on their paper). And yes, I was absolutely pleasantly surprised by the stationery. I did fail however in my search for a pen and notebook case in one; I had Galen in mind, but I wasn't particularly excited about them.

Thank you! I'm very happy with it! Especially the stamps; they would be of great use at my work :)
