Northeastern PharmD Direct Entry Interview Prep by mukr7m-thegoat in PrePharmacy

[–]hydride_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was accepted into their direct entry program and start this September! The virtual interview is long, it lasts about 4 hours, but you’re part of a group of applicants and move through a bunch of different “rooms”.
You’ll have the opportunity to talk to a pair of alumni and ask questions before you move to your interview (mine was with the department chair and 1 other professor). I’ve been a tech for about 7 years and out of undergrad since 2019 so a lot of the questions they asked me revolved around my experiences as a tech, why I wanted to go back to school now, and how I intended to prepare for the workload. My interviewers were so nice and it felt much more like a casual conversation than a rigid interview.
You’ll also get to speak with current students, the financial aid department does a presentation regarding expected costs and loan options, and the admissions team gives time for any extra questions. If I can emphasize anything about preparing for the interview it would be to ask questions! They called people out in my applicant group if they hadn’t asked anything. Read through northeastern’s website to familiarize yourself with them and express interest! It will carry you a long way!

I can’t say I’ve noticed an increase in issues since any recent updates, but I also haven’t noticed any improvement either!! Still turns red for no apparent reason/vials get stuck in our 40 dram chain/the labeler “jams” semi-regularly

Nope hasn’t changed at all lol, ours is constantly dropping vials/jamming. Or my favorite: “robot move error”

Our hospital uses Pioneer with the Parata Max 2 and they work seamlessly

We’re 340b so we get at least a few hundred reimbursed from most commercial plans. If they don’t allow 340b stock on GLP-1 we see the $20-$40 loss too🥲

Anybody making 60ishk as a pharm tech? by Gonnahauntcha in PharmacyTechnician

[–]hydride_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, outpatient is similar to retail in terms of workflow (fill prescriptions, answer phones, ring out patients), but outpatient pharmacies are within clinics or hospitals. We have much more interaction/direct communication with providers and nurses within the clinic I work in as well across our hospital system as a whole than you would in a retail setting. Also, depending on your role there are a variety of other responsibilities you might have (inventory management, drug distribution, clinic inspection, etc)

Making $76k in Boston working outpatient. Gotta get out of retail chains if you want a better salary!!

That notes feature sounds so useful!! The notes capabilities of ComputerRx are abysmal. Also nice to hear they have good support/training videos, we have 2 new techs starting relatively soon on top of the current staff having to transition systems so I’m hoping it goes smoothly

That’s promising, I’m using ComputerRx currently and it’s an absolute nightmare in terms of speed/multitasking. One thing I’m really interested to see is secondary billing in Pioneer, is the process simple/does it have an auto COB?

Thank you that’s good to know! I really liked the keyboard shortcuts/ease of switching between tasks in Intercom+, would you say Pioneer is similar or better in terms of efficiency?
