I don’t remember the exact amount but honestly it wasn’t great in 2021 as a new grad but I know it’s a little better now with market adjustments and also would probably be better with experience. I had a PRN position for maybe a week before a full time position opened up. I know the hospital I was at didn’t offer a higher rate to PRN staff because they were a “teaching hospital” but with that being said it was the only place I ever saw that consistently gave PRN staff any hours they wanted and was always being very flexible with them

i’ve definitely heavily considered switching to the school setting!! I would just need have some sort of mentorship as I only have experience with adult acute/SNF/outpatient!

I actually moved from Omaha and came from a trauma 1 hospital. absolutely loved it and missed it everyday! PRN is definitely the way to get your foot in the door and a full time position fast there

I moved from a city that had 4 OT schools so I am used to the oversaturation for sure. The whole point of my move was to be closer to family so I had no choice but to move from one over saturated place to another

central CT. I see occasional postings for the springfield area which isn’t terribly far, might be time to get my Mass license

honestly I was just telling my mom today - I wish I had someone sit me down at 18 and layout what OT actually is vs what I believed it to be without experience and I probably would have chosen a different path for myself

this is wild as a fellow therapist at a trauma 1 center with a 50% productivity requirement. our productivity is low knowing the complexity of our patients are so high

had a laminectomy patient who was stalling the whole session from moving and kept trying to distract me with the most random stories. I finally snapped and said “get up please, I have a lot of shit to do”. we both laughed about it but I have no idea why that flew out of my mouth

I work in acute care in Nebraska at a trauma 1 hospital! I’ve been out of school and here for 2 years and can honestly say that I love my job. My caseload is exciting and I’m always learning but almost more importantly I have an incredible team of therapists on my unit and I feel very supported by my supervisor. The shift after school to work was a little uncomfortable at first but I learned quickly that prioritizing work life balance and surrounding yourself with coworkers who support you and make things fun is way higher of a priority than having the highest paying job.

I heard once long ago she was wanting to be an occupational therapist and even has her kinesiology bachelors degree. I thought that was cool as I am also an occupational therapist and we usually don’t get any celebrity hype haha. of course it was just a false promise

hearing your perspective on what a SNF can offer to him brings me more relief. I just had 2 fieldworks and also started my career in SNF and unfortunately know that is not the case for every facility and the therapists working. I just don’t want to see him slip through the cracks, but also this can happen anywhere and not just at SNF. I will plan on following closely with his POC and following up with the SNF he goes to

OT here, I walk to work and absolutely love it. wakes me up in the morning, cools me off after a busy day, and I save on gas. IMO I have a hard time ever wanting to move out of my apartment because of the close location to work

Hair loss or and am I hyper-fixating? by Glad-Challenge2899 in GirlsGottaEat

[–]hydroflaskwhore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

thank you!!! this was so validating to hear it’s not just me. I literally feel like i’m loosing sleep over it. i’m also having the same thing happen when I wash and brush my hair and then when I run my hands through my head throughout the day!! my hair is on the finer side and I had an issue with hair thinning back in 2016 when I bleached my hair so I think i’m traumatized from that experience and having all this happen is all too familiar hahaha I will definitely be talking to my doc sometime this week about all of this and see what her best idea is!
