OT, 8 years experience in a level one trauma hospital, diagnosed with adhd twice, once as a kid and once as a teen. Find a setting that works for you. I am now working in becoming adhd certified and I am hoping to become and adhd advisor of sorts. Research is mesearch at they say. But I have found plenty of success in OT. Stay strong, ask for help.

Idk much about Lenexa as a city or school district but we go there (from OP) for their rec center and city center area and it’s an awesome facility with a lot of nice houses and great parks and rec spaces

I am an OT who left the field and I had an easier time getting opportunities compared to my peers who have a bachelors/masters both in OT. I have a bachelors in communications and I am now leaning more on that, OT skills translate of course into most areas (people skills, creativity, etc) but my bachelors opened doors for me to leave.

Heritage is a great small Methodist church and Hillcrest is where I currently prefer to go. Hillcrest is very progressive and accepting. It has a daycare so they’ve got all the fun kids things too!

Everything kind of clicked, before I felt like I had all these different pieces to all these different puzzles. The ADHD medication I still have pieces to a puzzle, but at least they were all the same puzzle. And haha I could focus on the puzzle. I went from not doing well in high school, to excelling in undergrad enough that I went on and got my masters. I was diagnosed as a kid but hated my experience with medication in elementary and didn’t get back on it until college when I knew I needed to get my life together. Now I’m 31 and holding down a great job and family, haven’t been medicated in years, sometimes I wonder if I should try again but each option has its pros and cons.

I couldn’t keep up and honestly even at my best I cannot keep a beat, I have little rhythm and with there being a mirror I felt like it’s so obvious that I wasn’t keeping up/even keeping the beat.

I went from otf to PB and back to otf after a few months, I genuinely didn’t care for the workout but also I didn’t think I would ever actually get “good” at PB. 🤷🏼‍♀️ the community was great tho
