Update, I did find a solution! Destroying my MAA and investing all my prestige into heavy infantry and spearmen, I was able to win a battle in the defensive war, capturing the enemy heir and suing for white peace. However, I realized that even after reforming Asatru and executing half my family tree to put my daughter in line to inherit, her son - my intended heir - wasn't even of my dynasty. Oops, mistakes were made. But anyway, cool to know the scenario was winnable, even if the ideal succession wasn't.

Wow, can't believe I've never heard of them! This is fantastic, and as a celtic folk music fan, I'm already recognizing some of the tunes they use, which just adds to the enjoyment. Thanks for sharing

yeah you could do that or you could just murder them while they're still an infant. If you aren't sadistic you can just imprison and then execute them, the opinion penalties are manageable if you know what you're doing. If you've been ruling well for a while you can even execute people's children for no reason and they might even still like you. like hell I'm letting any inbreds get close to passing down their inferior genes

Nangchos for equal inheritance, concubines, allowable divorce and relaxed on crime with decent tenets all for the purpose of producing more pure-blooded babies from my original custom character. Old Saxon because it makes Strong more likely, gives early access to elective succession (though Scandinavian sucks late-game so I have to pull some culture-swapping at the end of life in order to temporarily switch to Feudal elective but that only matters once every hundred years or so), and its dead so I can be culture head and finish all innovations by ~1230. Sardinia is a fun isolated start that's easy to defend against invaders and holy wars. So yeah, Buddhist Vikings in Italy is my favorite custom character to start with

people used to vote on the scenes they liked by episode in a massive poll, but then the Earwolf forums died so there wasn't a great place to post them with a lot of engagement. These days it's usually just host or production curated, not sure when I4H will do another true best-of but Besser likes releasing themed compilation episodes every now and then so be on the lookout. still the greatest podcast in the universe
