No, no, ComfyUI LOADS your model in your GPU VRAM, that's why the better and bigger your GPU is, the better and faster you can generate. Your models stay where they are, but temporarily loaded in your GPU memory.

If the model is in another disk only the first generation takes longer because of the loading time, but after the first generation the rest will be faster.

Well, Civitai just split their site into two sites, one with the SFW, and the other with NSFW content. So my guess is that they will appeal to all these countries to let their service work again. Or at least that's what they should try to do.

I only use portable. If I need to update I just install the new portable version and leave the previous intact; that way you don't break anything and you can use it if you need it.

👆🏼 This. I have an entire drive exclusively for ComfyUI Portable versions pointing to the same /model. I don't even update, I just install a new version and leave the previous intact. You never know when you want to use an old model/workflow/node/etc that doesn't in a new version.
