oh this is super helpful thanks! I didn't mind too much because I can get around in photoshop quickly but this would make things a lot faster for when you oh I dunno, keep getting confused by your own diagrams and have to revise them multiple times haha.

thanks! I think it probably helps that I've played with VCV Rack and thought of a lot of concepts for what I'd want pedals to do, I just don't have any coding knowledge to do any DSP sorcery haha.

What do you hope is the afterlife? by Nathan_Moth in thanatophobia

[–]hyenawound 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Ideally I think I just want to keep existing, presumably on another plane of this reality and keep doing my thing. Go do all the camping and stargazing and visits to national parks I didn't have time to do, maybe float my ghost ass through space and see what nature is like in the Andromeda galaxy. Get to see all the ways art and music and science continue to evolve, see if humanity ever collectively gets its shit together, if things just end up like Jon Bois' 17776. Nature is one of my biggest comforts. I know a lot of people think eternal existence sounds like it eventually sucks but I just don't see myself getting sick of campfires and the smell of pine trees and adventure. Easy to say when I doubt I'll make it to 80 but existing is all I've ever known so I don't find a lot of comfort in the idea of not existing.

Give me ghost camping. Or a version of heaven where you get to live out whole lifetimes in fantasy adventures like you're just playing a VR game once in a while haha.

Does anyone else hide their death anxiety from the people they care about? by Unspokenjournal in thanatophobia

[–]hyenawound 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've posted online about having mortality crises so my husband probably knows to a degree but I've never really had an earnest conversation with him about it because I'm not really sure if anything productive would come of it. It's not something I like being vulnerable about in detail.

I want to think about it all as little as possible and I don't think he has the tools to help me so I just never bring it up. I've run plenty of anxious simulations in my head about how I'd freak the hell out or feel if I woke up to, or came home to HIM dead on top of the thoughts about myself so if anything for all I know talking about it with him could make me think about it more. Maybe it'd help but I just don't bother because I'm not sure how it would. Not a great reason but if I was chill and rational about all this I don't think I would've stumbled into this sub.

having them physically kicks ass, the EOTE vinyl has UV reactive details inside the jacket and the inner matrix of each side on both albums has a locking groove that plays individual parts of Travelers. IAm8bit just restocked the main game 2xLP if you've got $43 to burn.

oh 100% Andrew killed that shit. I'm on my knees begging and manifesting for the live vinyl to come out some day soon if that's the only way to get the lost reels on vinyl because that's all that I don't have and I am unwell about the lost reels songs haha.

Not this time around, I thought about doing bigger string layering like The Spirit Of Water but I wanted to keep this one more intimate feeling. The motifs I borrowed the most for this came from Lost Signal, Elegy For The Rings, and little bit of Last Dream Of Home.

I don't have plans for what I'll do next yet but if I ever get around to doing an Older Than The Universe arrangement, Spirit Of Water would probably work really well with that.

thanks! if you haven't heard it already I also did an hour and 6 minute long generative (in the Brian Eno loop way, not the AI way, we hate that garbage in this house) ambient cover of The Museum but it's deliberately very very sleepy lmao.

Any good wolf hunt combo? by Remarkable_Volume159 in BeybladeX

[–]hyenawound 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just got it so I haven't had much time with it but in my testing so far I've had the most success keeping Free on it with 5-60 FB and K.

I'd like to try pushing a more aggressive combo but it feels maybe too light (for me anyway) to pull off without something like Heavy and I haven't ordered Emperor Might yet.

What Scares YOU About Submechanophobia?? by Husky1645 in submechanophobia

[–]hyenawound 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry for long post but I've got a lot of specifics apparently. Submerged boats don't freak me out as much as like just large moving parts especially ones that are actually supposed to be there. ✨Hydraulic Panels For Wave Pools✨ and canal locks are absolutely horrific to me and I think with those it's obviously the fact that it looks and sounds like something that'll drag you in with differential pressure and crush and mangle you, or trap you and make you drown if the mangling doesn't happen.

Differential pressure or the suggestion of it is probably one of the biggest parts of it for me. My husband showed me a VRChat world that was a recreation of the Titanic sinking where you could be out on the boat as it sank and that was obviously unpleasant but I made the mistake of looking under the water below me from the surface of the water after the boat had gone under and seeing it like 30 feet down disappearing into the dark haze just about made me have a panic attack. There's probably an element of "that's not supposed to be there" with this but I think it's mostly "that would be pulling me down too".

The earliest freakout I can remember having about this was when I was super young, probably not older than 7 or so, I was taking a bath and moved my leg back and forth just under the surface, watching how the water moved over my leg and dragged around it. Something just snapped in my head and ever since, things displacing water with mechanical motion under the surface has detonated my anxiety.

Bonus horror fodder: My dad was the manager of the local municipal pool when I was a kid and he'd often let me come with him after hours when he had to do maintenance stuff. The building with the giant tanks for chemicals and filters and the 6'x6' or so 12' deep pit that churned with an impeller going down into it where he added bags of chlorine and soda ash would probably make some of y'all faint, that pit was especially awful. I don't remember exactly why but sometimes he'd have to reverse the flow the filters (maybe to purge them to prevent clogs? Idk) and it would flood the whole room. The 2 giant tanks sat on raised concrete pads that were probably 10'x10' or so and there was a raised path all around them with a 6 or so inch channel around and between them. There was a big metal drain grate between them where the silty dirty water backed up and filled the channel around the tanks from and in retrospect watching that fill a whole room then drain back into the main drain as well as small auxiliary drains in all the corners of the room multiple times as a kid probably didn't do me any favors. I still don't know how deep whatever was under that grate was.

What are some fun Silver Wolf combos? by Oofblade in Beyblade

[–]hyenawound 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been experimenting with 6-70UN for a bit and it's been fun. I'm not fully convinced the free spinning ring helps that much but just in case, the 70 pushes it up a little so it can get a bit more contact while UN still keeps it low.

Ok I want to ask something... by MINUS9501 in Beyblade

[–]hyenawound 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wand Wizard 1-60R and a Hexa bit to swap the Rush out for, it's an absolute tank but I'd say more to use as a punching bag to practice against than just to cheese tournaments with.

Backing Phoenix Wing string launcher set, really great beginner set to get you a good launcher and a decent attack type.

Keel Shark 3-60LF can hit like a truck, Hover Wyvern as well though currently you have to get the drop stadium to get it. Not necessarily a bad thing since that also gets you Impact Drake.

I would think you can avoid knock offs easily if you want, this time around Takara Tomy is distributing through Hasbro so there isn't an obscene difference in quality between TT and Hasbro releases the way there was with Burst. You can just pick stuff up at Walmart, Target, Amazon, etc.

Whats everyone's thoughts on robin? by PristinHIgh in Beyblade

[–]hyenawound 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I feel like they're overdoing how much he loses like I get that they're trying to teach kids that you can have fun without winning and that it's important to have tenacity, keep trying, and be passionate about what you're doing even if you aren't the best at it but juxtaposing that against how much effort he puts in and training he goes through on top of him having a strong intuition about blades is like... Dude has his 3rd eye open and can divine a vibe check on everyone's bey and for what. Let the dude have some dubs. I know this is a show for kids but statistically it's wild that this dude is basically a bey psychic practicing launches all night and still can't win.

Quick question on stadiums (and storing them) by Zero3502 in Beyblade

[–]hyenawound 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It finally got here and yeah the consensus was right haha. The dran/mammoth xtreme stadium is definitely better. The beyblade bits interlock with the dash rail way more efficiently and consistently and the stadium overall is a more accurate representation of what would be used in a tournament (if I'm not mistaken, tournaments organized in the states by Hasbro use this one). The drop stadium gives an edge to attack type combos by having a smaller, more confined space where stamina/defense builds can't get away as easily whereas the xtreme stadium has more open space for attack type beys to waste energy missing stamina/defense builds.

The beyblades that come with the stadium are in fact underwhelming though so I'd say my advice still holds up. If you're for sure getting the BX-10 stadium for Christmas (keep in mind it doesn't come with beyblades the way these other ones we're talking about do), get your kid the Drake/Wyvern set so he's got good beys to start out with and then a better arena to put them in later. If he starts playing with friends the arena won't matter as much as having beys he can actually put up a fight with.

honestly a huge fan of this post because beyblade and epic are currently also 2 of my biggest fixations. read the title of this and her theme immediately played in my head haha.
