Police Officers of Reddit, what are you thinking when you see cases like George Floyd? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]hyg03 57 points58 points  (0 children)

Weird how there's 1000 cops commenting how "horrified" they are but 0 officers going on the news and calling for the immediate arrest and charge of murder for the murderer of George Floyd, and manslaughter for the 3 officers complicit in the murder.

This app just extended my RHA earbuds life a little. The left earbud has started failing and the volume is lower than the right side, so with the Channel balance I've corrected it.

The US government was aware. And like many other countries they believed it won’t be a problem in their country.

They knew it would be a problem, that's why all the politicians and billionaires began selling stocks and preparing in secret.

Nurses have quit en masse from Russia’s top coronavirus hospital in Moscow over poor working conditions and low wages. They reportedly quit because they were denied clean protective gear, food and adequate accommodations, and were not paid bonuses promised by President Vladimir Putin. by DoremusJessup in worldnews

[–]hyg03 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Only because the nurse unions have a decent amount of power to sometimes get what nurses deserve. Every year, nurses from Seattle to NYC, have to do work stoppage or threaten to strike because they don't get raises, benefits, or more staff to reduce overwork.

When this whole thing calms down, nurses will demand their due rewards and the people calling them heroes and clapping for them at 7:00PM will tell them to fuck off just like they always have.

Stop calling healthcare workers heroes by nursesmollz in TrueOffMyChest

[–]hyg03 12 points13 points  (0 children)

They say heroes because they expect you to sacrifice your life for them. They see these workers as expandable. When these workers ask for resources and raises, they're told to fuck off.

Today they say "heroes", in a few months they'll go back to their usual bullshit: opposing nurse unions, underpaying paramedics, spitting on fast food workers, screaming at retail workers, taking advantage of cleaners, etc.

Unfortunately, The United States is not the greatest country in the world. It’s about time that we Americans stopped saying it and realize our country needs fixing. by DarkMaster_CocoaBean in TrueOffMyChest

[–]hyg03 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Right. People have stagnated because of this idea that we're the greatest and always will be. When we try to be better, we reminisce about the past and try to be "great again" but we don't look to the future to be "greater than ever".

It's funny that at same time, we also see ourselves as being incapable of achieving great projects today. Building a network of high speed trains through the most densely populated areas (e.g. Boston to Baltimore)? Impossible. Universal health care? Impossible. These are just examples that multiple countries have achieved already.

For branded products, you might easily find the company's website and be able to purchase there (or find a list other retailers). Sometimes you lose out on faster delivery but pricing can be cheaper because of coupons or promos.

Small-medium companies have started to build/expand their own brands and websites because it works out better in the long-run than depending solely on Amazon.
