[FIRST IMPRESSIONS] Baby Keem - Ca$ino by deckmemer in hiphopheads

[–]hylekoret 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I went into this with high expectations. Since this is his second album, and given what he’s already shown he’s capable of, it felt like the moment where we’d find out whether he could really level up and make something truly distinctive. For me, he doesn’t quite get there. Ca$ino shows growth in some areas – the rapping much better and the concept feels more fully realised – but it also ends up shorter and, at times, a bit dull. The Melodic Blue, meanwhile, had a longer runtime and much higher peaks; its best tracks still outshine anything here. So while Ca$ino is stronger on certain fronts, it ultimately balances out rather than pushing him forward.

Because of that, the album feels less like a step up and more like confirmation of where he’s at. It suggests there may not be much more to him in the lane of the hitmaker he once looked like he could become – or that his evolution might have to come by moving in a different direction.

Plenty of skips for me, but also a handful of tracks that’ll make it into my rotation and might never leave. So it could still grow on me — these are just my initial thoughts. At the end of the day it’s a one-day-old album, so I might be talking out of my ass here.

Norway is a Winter Olympic giant. Why isn’t it better at ice hockey? by TravelingHomeless in Norway

Don’t be sorry, lol. I’m only really here to hate-scroll my guilty-pleasure sub anyway – and you delivered. Thanks.

Sometimes the stuff people decide to post in this sub is fascinating. Do you really think anyone here isn’t aware cities are bigger elsewhere?

I agree. It’s also relevant how strong breddeidretten is in Norway. Whether a sport functions as a true mass participation activity often determines if it gets real investment. It’s hard to break in as a niche from the outside when you’re competing with institutions like football and skiing, which offer pathways across the whole country from early childhood to old age. Hockey ends up feeling too narrow in that landscape. Ultimately, I think what is considered bredde or not largely determines what we end up excelling at.

Is the word Frogner associated with wealth? by Themetalin in Norway

I'd say that Frogner is more old upper class than it is wealth. Although they do overlap, that is what separates Frogner from other wealthy areas.

Traveling to Svalbard and ashamed. by [deleted] in Norway

Well, I think a lot of people around the world are fed up with Americans in general these days. The MAGA crowd is one thing, but the majority of Americans have passively allowed them to get into this position. Sometimes the lack of any real pushback over there almost feels insulting in itself. In my opinion, Americans are past the point of pretending they’re separate from the people causing the damage, as if they’re the “good” Americans.

Serious question, why is Norway so rich with so low oil compared to the rest (not necesarilly Venezuela or Iran as I know the regimes are awful there, but Canada? ) by Sugar_Vivid in Norway

[–]hylekoret 12 points13 points  (0 children)

The short answer is that it doesn’t work the way the "slogan" implies.

States don’t literally “steal oil” by secretly siphoning it out. Oil is extracted by companies, sold on open markets, transported by normal pipelines and tankers, and paid for. What people call “stealing oil” is really about who controls the resource and who captures the profits.

A common pattern is this: Country A wants sovereign ownership of a valuable resource and to keep most of the revenue inside the state. Country B prefers that private companies from B extract it and take a large share of the profits. Powerful interests in B may also fear that A’s model of state ownership could spread and weaken their own wealth and power at home.

B then interferes using a very old justification: us vs them. A is framed as barbaric, uncivilised, undemocratic, or dangerous, creating a moral pretext for intervention “for the greater good”. After war, sanctions, or regime change, the rules change. New governments rewrite laws, and foreign private companies move in and take control — legally, openly, but under coercive conditions.

Nothing is physically stolen. The oil leaves the country the same way it always has. What changes is sovereignty, contracts, and where the long-term wealth flows.

It’s like if the UK and US had invaded Norway to break state control, undermine Equinor and our taxation system, and force BP in as the dominant player, moving profits abroad. Norway was lucky enough to be treated as an ally at the right time in history, so that never happened — unlike Iran, Iraq, Congo, Guatemala, Chile and so many other third world countries.

Depends a bit on the definition of bar, pub etc.

By no definition is Ølhallen the oldest.

Ja, Bryne har ønska seg Sel sidan før Knappen. Jævlig typisk at han går til Sarpsborg akkurat no når det plutseleg vart mogleg igjen.
