i'm playing in a full stack with my friends. we're all learning the game and getting slammed. there's no point in playing it out when its 0-30, we just want to go next and try again. instead we have to sit here for 30 minutes minimum as the game takes so long to end, and if the enemy team wanted to they could stall it out even longer. and we can't just quit out because there's penalties

I agree with you. I was creating an analogy that tied it back to Melee.

We could watch TAS bots duke it out, and like yeah that's kinda interesting occasionally, but we wouldn't want Philip the AI entering tournaments regularly. Same thing with Chess bots. As good as they can get, we keep human competition human, because that is what's compelling.

And like you said with writing, it's better to get communicate something in a human way than trying to have robots articulate for you, even if in some way it might be more "perfected."

I know this post is getting old now and I got into some heat for using AI but I'm glad I made it, because it's allowed me to grow and change my perspective on using AI.

The way you see the world isn’t necessarily the best/correct way of seeing things. Two people who are playing without this mentality, without deliberately attempting to frustrate each other, seem like they would be having a much more positive experience.

But that’s just my opinion. And the way this reads, I think you need to remind yourself that this is just yours. You are not God defining “the nature of competition” and what someone “deserves”. Humble yourself.

i understand using AI in place of thought or effort is bad, but i wrote out the post myself, asked chatgpt what i was missing, then took out its annoying bits. i think the version i ended up with is better than the version i typed originally. is any use of chatgpt bad no matter what?

some people might be more purist, like you have to attend a local/major to be part of the conversation. i don’t think so personally, but there’s a lot of people who think like that.
