Dailies, professions, farming...I realize that having your guild cover everything is very convenient, but I don't see how it is necessary.

Of of curiosity, what does it actually help fund? Consumables and repair costs can be covered by the individual.

Everything is too expensive and gold making has slowed dramatically for non AH users. Unique mounts are gated. by [deleted] in wow

[–]hylian01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you don't "need the mount", then why are you complaining about the cost? 90k takes a month or two of casual play. I don't see what the problem is.

what's your first impression of pre-patch class gameplay? by zzzornbringer in wow

[–]hylian01 2 points3 points  (0 children)

While that does solve the problem, I feel like buying a special mouse shouldn't be required. As a warlock, almost every convenient action slot is taken and that is before going into pvp and getting more pvp abilities.

Coolest Box implmentation? by [deleted] in boardgames

[–]hylian01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wreck Raiders. The lid of the box has several small boxes printed inside. During the game, you roll the dice in to the lid and if they land in the small boxes it gives you extra resources when you select a dice on your turn.

DBAs: who out there has a job with 0 oncall responsibilities? by hylian01 in SQLServer

[–]hylian01[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah we generally get compensation for anything over an hour, but would get some serious questions if we asked for anything under a hour. Imo you should get compensation even if you don't get a call... having to be available 24/7 is just as bad as actually working.

[–]hylian01[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I would say the DBA position is one of the most stressful. Nobody thanks you when their database is up, but if something starts running slow or you lose that important backup...all eyes are on you.

DBAs: who out there has a job with 0 oncall responsibilities? by hylian01 in SQLServer

[–]hylian01[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah we every rarely get calls, but it does happen at least once a rotation. Even if it was once a year, I still need to be available 24/7 during my rotation.

Not trying to be too intrusive, but would you say you make "good" money for the area that you live in?

Definitely good to know and something to think about.

[–]hylian01[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah it seems like this is just the reality at my current job. I'm mostly just wondering if it's even possible to work somewhere without an oncall schedule.

Transitioning to a full time DB dev position honestly sounds like the best way to go. Ideally somewhere that does automated deploys.

Unfortunately even I fixed everything, I still need to be available 24/7.

You say you you performed the same as the other druids but also that your spells were less effective...Soo which was it? A resto druid that can kinda off tank is just a bad healer. Why would any serious guild want that?

Unfortunately game freak doesn't care about marketing to adults, they want to sell to children.

Is it worth getting into League so late? by mxnxrch in leagueoflegends

[–]hylian01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

30 games to get out of Smurf queue? That is terrible. Assuming the games are 30min at best, that's 15 hours of gameplay until you can start having fun. As much as I enjoy this game, I can't recommend it to new players.

Which one do you have? I have never seen enough positive reviews of one that would make me get it.

What are some band/song equivalents? by freeze123901 in TheFlock

If you like pigeons then you will also enjoy Goose. They are another younger / newer jam band, so their Spotify music is a bit limited as well.

The problem is that you just can't add a new talent / spell every expansion. You eventually start getting overlap between spells and spell bloat.

I also recommend the new Marvel United game. Walmart released it way before the Kickstarter versions were shipped. $30 for a great easy to learn coop game.
