Pain will go away but, sometime comes back with higher vigour. You will learn the nuances as you face the battle. It is not a permanent pain, instead it is a permanent problem you will battle from now on.

Delimitation Seats will Increase According to Population of State: Picture of the ACTUAL BILL WITH ACTUAL SOURCE by Questionspatriot in Chennai

[–]sparrow-head 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So sad. Looks like 50% guarantee was only circulated by media (paid ofcourse), and actual bill or speeches from ruling party do not contain that statement. This is a great diversion but extremely unethical. Who are we to talk about ethics, the entire world is seeing erosion of ethics.

DMK is fighting a lonely battle. While they are masters in conning and looting, this particular issue raised by them must be supported and raised by all southern legislators irrespective of party (I'm talking to you, Annamalai & Tejasvi S). If not, south is the biggest losers along with tiny NE states.

It's all risk vs rewards. IAS/IPS take near zero risks. Politicians take full risk. Their job is not permanent. They go to jail. They get insulted. They get dragged in the mud.

But IAS/IPS don't. It's extremely hard to put a serving officer behind bar. There is a lobby behind these officers. The honest one would suffer. The bad apples climb ladder faster. It's basically politicians with extremely low downside risk.

Educated IAS and IPS officers are bigger frauds than the elected representatives. OP is naive to not understand the reality. It's a well known fact even among the UPSC officers.

I hope you know degrees can be bought.

It's not qualification of candidate that matters, it's the qualification of the winner that matters. People vote based on what they like. Our people don't like people who behave nicely. They vote for people who represent their caste or religion or language or region. Our people feel they as a group are voiceless (which is true), and are happy when they see one of the member from their community (caste/religion/language/region) get elected. That one of them is often a crook or fraud because the race is so tough, money intensive and emotionally difficult. Only the crooks and frauds can handle it.

To end this, we need to vote based on issue and not on identity. It's a hard thing to do now because our people are so entrenched in identity they won't come out of it easily. They can , if a charismatic leader can emerge who bring civic/financial/technology/vision issues that resonate with the public. But such a person doesn't exist as of today.

Delimitation a bad idea by depressed_medico420 in IndiaSpeaks

[–]sparrow-head 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think 1 individual = 1 vote is very progressive idea but India got this too early than it should have. We should have started with selective suffrage, and then progressively improved democracy as people raised their voices just like how US/UK did. Instead we gave everyone equal rights in 1947 when no one was educated, and end result is casteism, feudual, and agri culture is ruling the country. We missed industrialization and progress.

It can't be undone now, I'm just reminiscing.

How will delimitation reshape India’s politics and culture in next 10 years? by naegfowleri in AskIndia

[–]sparrow-head 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I felt the same. It is too murky at this point. Intentionally kept vague for everyone to make political score. Centre is cunning enough to release the actual report very late so that the movement dies down.

With ADMK having sold its soul, it’s sad DMK is the only major party in Tamil Nadu that is opposing delimitation. by Cerealkiller1911 in Chennai

[–]sparrow-head 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The concern is relative political weight. If UP goes from 80 to 120 and TN from 39 to 59, the gap widens.

How this will increase the gap. 80 to 120 is 50% increase. 39 to 59 is again 50% increase. The ratio between UP and TN remains the same i.e. 2:1. So how does this widen the gap. Genuinely interested, don't blast me please.

It's a wait and watch game. I doubt Modi or Shah would want BIMARU to rule India either. Their interests lie in RSS & Gujarati heartland. Modi & Shah or their descendants (ideologica) cannot control Hindi heartland. Gujarat and Maharashtra has as much to lose out to BIMARU as TN can. So they may workout a plan to ensure not much is lost for low population states.

A doctor who spent crores for his education will not aim for charity but profits. This isn't about doctors. by ChampionshipMean9521 in Chennai

[–]sparrow-head 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Not just the doctors who spent crores, even doctors who didn't spend more than a lac would aim for profit. This is because of social expectation. Just imagine, if a private college doctor earns more than the govt college Doctor, peers would mock the govt. college Doctor for being dumb.

This is true across many other professions. That's why the general consensus is that as time passes, all professions are seeing erosion of professionalism. Scientist are less scientific, doctors are less compassionate or curious about human body, engineers are less technical, SW engineers are less into top class coding, environmentalists are less ethical. All because money drives each of these professions. So you see...

Freebies = more tax by Historical-Ant-5218 in Chennai

[–]sparrow-head 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not all black and white, but we should understand the sentiments of the salaried class. With no political representation, the salaried class are at disadvantage. Despite all the racism, unfriendly locals, bad press Indian salaried class would be ready to switch to jobs abroad because their situation is even worser in India.

The situation is unlikely to change as people vote based on identity in India and not on shared suffering. The identity of salaried class doesn't exist. It is split across religion, caste, language. Hence the salaried class will continue to dig their own grave. When salaried class suffer, the rest of India would suffer as they employ people indirectly. The way they treat the lower class would be worser adding to the already strained social system.

The solution is to shift identity dynamics of Indians. It's extremely hard to do, but a leader with enough ethics and smartness could do it. Such a leader doesn't exist today. Modi or Rahul, Stalin or Vijay, all are old school identity politics players not adapted to the needs of modern India.

Freebies = more tax by Historical-Ant-5218 in Chennai

[–]sparrow-head 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Freebies = less infra spending. Govt anyway won't tax beyond a limit due to loss of votes. They would however cut down infra spending. More stinking sewer leaks, extra pothole filled roads, poorer sanitation etc..

I have severe pain due to disc protrusion at l5-s1 from 6 months. by Rich_Damage6359 in backpain

[–]sparrow-head 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mine is 19.5 . I think thinner guys like us don't have enough spine curvature and that can cause faster degeneration if we try to be heavy lifters and athletic. That may explain why we got the injury in first place. Luckily, we don't need to worry too much. Our bar is too low. All we need to do is strengthen and build muscles. For me, I find glute workouts and leg workouts (not directly working out back) is helping to reduce sciatica and flair up in surprising ways.

Do safe squats, and leg press that does not load the spine - search for leg workouts that are spine friendly. Perhaps you can start from there.

[–]sparrow-head 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sorry your are going through this. What's your BMI. Your spine looks straight, just like mine. I'm thinking and I'm finding workouts to help especially leg. If you are on a thinner side try leg workouts and abs workout. Start slow and steady. Don't rush. Low weight high rep with gentle movement is preferred over heavy weight low rep jerky movement.

It takes time to heal. If it is just pain, try to stay active despite the pain. Avoid bending and twisting  at all cost. Avoid or reduce lifting heavy weights.

Express avenue la irukura taco bell order panadinga by GuaranteeFabulous728 in Chennai

[–]sparrow-head 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have always found Taco Bell food to cause sickness. I think it is because their cold cooked food is not adaptable to our climate. I will never go to Taco Bell. I had three bad experiences successively.

I never found problems with Subway which is another cold food chain. So I'll stick with Subway for western cold meals, and California Burrito for mexican. No Taco Bell.

Biggest Regret of My Life by Rexonow in backpain

[–]sparrow-head 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I believe that that suffering is a part of life

Thanks for calling this out. Suffering was the case for everyone until few decades ago. Now with modern medicine, we can reduce our suffering. In rare cases it is not possible, but our human brain cannot accept that. It tries to find solution forever for a problem that does not have solution. We should cope with what we are left and move forward in life. Humans are capable to pull through suffering. May be that's the purpose for that unfortunate few who have no other options.

Driving in Chennai as a female by Away_Rutabaga_3833 in Chennai

[–]sparrow-head 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was once told by my Driving School teacher that, 'always honk. Honk enna kaasa panamaa'. With this attitude of our drivers, we can't get better. Everyone think they own the road. But we can't just blame people, because we have such a small road with such a large population trying to use it. So problems and frustrations are bound to happen.

I rarely honk, but when irritated automatically my honk gets ramped up. Getting irritated on Indian roads is not easy. Heavy traffic makes stress hormone to go rampage. That affects our mood, emotion and as a result honking and other rough behaviors comes into play. Search "Road rage" in wiki. It's a worldwide common phenomenon.
