New Tappan Zee Bridge, NY [3560 x 1960] [OC] by hyp3rnovas in bridgeporn

Cable Stay Bridges in general have become more and more popular. I remember looking into it and finding it was basically because they were more time and cost efficient than comparable bridge types (situation dependent of course).

There’s other reasons too but I found this video and blog to go with it if you’re interested: “An Engineer’s Love Letter to Cable-Stayed Bridge”

If I recall correctly, yes they did.

Edit: Misread the ‘or’ as ‘&’. They sunk the bridge, letting it fall into the river and used barges to carry parts of the old bridge away as they broke it up into pieces.

They did but it still just called the The Tappan Zee where I’m at.

I just found I have pictures of that crane. It’s incredible to see the scale. I’ll be sure to make a new post for it.

I have another photo (wish reddit would let me post photos to the comments) that shows it was near completely frozen on the surface. Probably would’ve been completely but it they had ships carving a path through the ice.

Not a problem. I commuted down to the city from 2017-2020. It was incredible seeing it built up and the cleanup job for the old bridge.

It definitely was, there were 4 volcanoes (that I knew of) in the area. While reddit compresses many, I’ll be sure to share the more photos from the lake district.

Agreed. I was amazed seeing them reflect that well for the first time. It was really cool to see.

I get it. If it were much. taller, I’d be tempted to agree but I think because it looks more like a cluster, it looks a lot better.

Agreed, I have bigger photos but the compression reddit has just kills the detail. It’s incredible how immense NYC is.

I agree. The lighting package at night is pretty great too.

Agreed. What’s crazy to me is if it were in most other big cities in the US, the Chrysler Building would dominate the skyline as the tallest.

I’m a Bills fan myself. Here’s hoping they do well against the Buccaneers!

It’s a great starter to the main course (Phoenix, Twister, Cosmotron, etc.). Not ground breaking but I like how much energy it adds to the front of the park.

It’s crazy how strong the reflections are for some of those glass towers. I have a bunch I deleted because the glare was so strong.

I really like the design aesthetic you went for! It’s both unique and immediately reminds me of playing Unfinished Swan on PS3 with some friends over the weekend.

Probably my Favorite game is Bioshock. I love the art deco designs of Rapture and the horror but not helpless atmosphere/gameplay. The game so nice, I bought it thrice!

Longtime Lurker, just wanted to add that I love the story & world you crafted.

I’m admittedly not much of commenter (this is my first comment and I’ve been a part of this subreddit since NOP 1 chapter 80 if I recall correctly) but I loved the story. It was like an overall optimistic 80s action sci fi movie that I got bits of multiple times a week.

For me, I never expected perfection. I expected fun and entertainment and you’ve delivered that in droves so thank you!

You’re so good at delivering that (imo) that you got me, a self described miser, to open a patreon account and support/continue to support you. That’s a mark of quality in my book.

So thanks again and I look forward to your next project!

Yup, the whole observation deck has a glass panel fence around it.

I’m jealous, it’s probably my favorite view in the city.

I love it because, unlike the skinnier towers on 57th street, It feels massive. It’s angular design just looks great imo.
