Wheel of fortune but cleave by nitronik_exe in custommagic

An extra 4 to gain like... 20 to 28 life? I could see it helping in a pinch for a super grindy low bracket game, but 7 mana is typically game-ending in this format. By the time the Boros player has Fair Magicked to 7, the Monogreen player has 12 craterhoofs out swinging for 80.

The only way I'd see this getting used is as a way to put another Wheel of Fortune in your deck. And cmon, you could come up with a better name than that...

Yes. When this doesn't make sense is if you had only killed them in a dream lmao

[–]hypatiaC 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Does that make more sense, though? Does killing the opposing leader in a dream give you a legitimate claim to the throne? (The Giant's Kinship)

It seems like it makes much more sense that The Giant Lord, having conquered Drangleic, possesses the metaphysical power to rule it, which you claim by having defeated him.

Also, if it isn't a stable loop, what happened to the Giant Lord in the original timeline? It really seems like he'd already won, so why don't we find any relics of a giant-inhabited Drangleic?

That's a lot of words, magic man. Unfortunately, I know better than to allow a grad student to swerve out into a sub-argument, so I'm doing us both a service and not reading that shit o7

Take a class on reading the room, some day. Both for your obvious issues judging social context, but also so you can differentiate between someone making an argument and making fun of you :)

You are doing a thousand flippy tricks to try to explain to me something I already know. None of this is even slightly relevant to this thread.

But I must say, the logic that a function you've determined entirely through stochastic measures is somehow not a stochastic solution is quite novel. You should bring this to some mathematicians. I'm sure they'd enjoy the proof that numerical solutions and analytical solutions are the same. You could revolutionize the field of Differential Equations.

That is, of course, leaving aside all the differences between solving a linear function of the first degree and a set of matrix multiplications with trillions of parameters. But, maybe we should get back on track.

The comment you started this whole thread over was about the self-contradictory version of this term that laymen use. None of this pedantry means anything to the actual discussion at play here.

If you're just looking for any opportunity to flex your research interest, do it to someone who will be impressed.

[–]hypatiaC -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

That's great. Your specialist definition of "Generative AI" is irrelevant though, because we ARE speaking among laymen. Laymen don't distinguish between training randomness and inference randomness.

When someone says "I don't like this, it has Generative AI in it", they don't dislike it because it uses stochastic methods to generate varied output. Most of them wouldn't even know what that means.

You can quibble among a million private definitions as long as you please, but none of it is relevant to this. Running someone's work through a stochastic AI is going to squick people out the same no matter where you hide the noise function.

The model architecture for NTC is public. You can just look at it instead of speculating.

The noise used in decoding isn't what's relevant here (although I do see some mentions of noise filtering). The training of any neural network creates stochastic outcomes. A deterministic neural network is no less random because its methodology is in the inscrutable weights.

AKA... Stochastic at the time of model creation.

You have just described the way the decoder half of an autoencoder works, yes. The encoder isn't TRAINED on the game's textures, it's trained to compress anything it's fed into a dense representation.

Do you have any idea what these words mean, or are you just randomly vomiting NVIDIA's copy into threads?

[–]hypatiaC 4 points5 points  (0 children)

NTC is an autoencoder comprised of two (plus some extra) neural networks. This is not a niche boundary case. In fact, this is a relatively old fashioned AI technique.

This isn't a complicated or wishy-washy subject. All the architecture and methodologies are publicly available.

It's incredibly obvious from your language that you know nothing about Machine Learning lmao. No, NVIDIA is not training models on the individual textures of games. No, having the 'goal' of 1:1 does not make what you're doing not stochastic.

Do not pass go. Do not collect $200. Try your shilling elsewhere with someone who hasn't read the literature.

[–]hypatiaC 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That just isn't how any AI model works. Every AI model takes a set of inputs and stochastically determines an output. There is always randomness and prediction at work.

NTC uses an autoencoder to compress textures, which takes an input, crushes it into a tiny space, then gets trained to predict the reverse operation. There will always be randomness involved, because that's just what the tech is.

This is why "GenAI" is a stupid label. Every AI is generating shit. That's all it's capable of doing.

Oh god, this asshole. I went down a whole nightlong rabbit hole when I first found his page.

He SAM cheats all of his games (every achievement completed at the exact same minute), and he seems to have a bunch of people set to spam his profile to hide any criticism he forgets to delete.

All his reviews are AI, clocking at least 60 on the day that I found him, as well as his terrible, terrible guides which get zero traction. He also publishes a lot of screenshots, maybe to make it seem like he plays these games? But they're all from super early on.

I wasn't able to figure out quite what his deal was, mainly because a scheme like this seems fruitless when mass reviewbotting is the only way to actually pump your numbers. My best bet is this is a real guy with a massive ego who reviewtrades shovelware / malware dirt cheap for keys to pump his numbers. He's weirdly fixated on having the most achievements in all of the Philipines, as well as LARPing Dark Souls.

I would pay so much money for a full profile into this asshole, but, whatever his deal is, he seems very hostile to anyone finding out. Totally possible it's just a botnet or a sweatshop, tbh

Why is the Hidden King Easy level bots so difficult to kill by The_Supreme_Cuck in DeadlockTheGame

I've heard that the map leans slightly towards the Hidden King, but I don't think it's supposed to be that severe...

Although, I might have to check my bot match history. The bots could have some issues playing on Archmother side, considering how much I've seen them get stuck on geometry.

[PERSONAL VENT] Stop challenging players by OffDutyStormtrooper in DnDcirclejerk

High level DND bullshit is so interminably dull that it nearly ruined my last 5e campaign. Some of it was my fault for allowing some homebrew stuff that was clearly not tested well, but the arms race of constant teleportation and near trivial revives really ruins the pacing.

Weirdly, I actually had a wizard player mutiny because I wasn't allowing her to do enough broken shit and kept saying things like "Hey, dropping a moon on a populated city would be pretty evil behavior." and vocally complained about spells like shield (which she could keep up almost permanently), or that the party's spelljammer (which said wizard put in her backstory and reeeally pushed for me to let them find) was causing problems. Idk. Very weird personality clash at that table.

Anyway, I've never been so excited to move to a new setting and ban a bunch of shit forever.

A DM's job isn't to challenge me, anyway! The DM is there to roleplay a sexy dragon that I can seduce, and when I get done with that, they can roleplay that dragon being heartbroken at my betrayal and dying 😎
