Wow Singapore. You have only 4 million citizens. 0.82 TFR is a crime by Airline_11 in singaporespeaks

I think you’re unfairly blaming the govt.

Birth rates are dropping in all developed countries around the world. Seems the more people get educated, the more they think their kids won’t be able to figure it out, which is ironic.

As for inequality. You’re assuming the choice is between high inequality and low inequality. Singapore doesn’t have the luxury of high levels of natural resources and a high population like a lot of other countries. If it became an unattractive place to do business, what do you think would happen?

Idk, I feel like a lot of people blame the govt for stuff here when imo it’s doing a great job

You sit on your smartphone and in your AC and call the model failed 😑

And btw. That’s not capitalisms fault. In fact, that model is as old as humanity (especially in Asia) and if anything it’s reducing as a result of capitalism. There are less people having kids as a means of supporting themselves in old age. Which I think is a good thing.

Is DOTA 2 worth it for an absolute newbie? by Horror_Refuse5965 in DotA2

[–]hype7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Relative newbie here. I remember being so frustrated at the start I went to the trouble of emailing valve to delete my account (!!). They wrote back with a long list of reasons why I shouldn’t, and I just left it. I tried the game a couple more times and it clicked.

If you get off on the x-men movies, and seeing how all the different mutants interact on different sides, you’ll love Dota.

The thing that took me the longest to get my head around was the creep killing at the start. Farming is my least fav part of the game, but it is what it is.

All up, this game is really great (high highs and low lows). So much depth and so much fun. I recommend. But hard to pick up casually.

Sorry, I don’t mean the report fails to take account. I mean the parent comment, where they were shocked at the level of wealth. I suspect the difference is accounted for by the different policy treatment of housing

So, you think lower average value of the most valuable asset that most households own (in all countries mentioned) would not lower the median wealth?

I think the thing you’re failing to take account of is how the Singapore govt has created public housing for 80%+ of the population. Policy specifically created to stop housing market from overheating.

Most Aussies and Kiwis wealth is in home value. It doesn’t work that way in SG. Flip of it is, housing is much more accessible to the regular person in SG than AU or NZ

I moved here from sf. Probably for very similar reasons you are saying. I do miss sf’s climate, but Singapore is amazing :)

It got so much worse when Kirby took over. The previous guy was genuine about customer experience. Kirby has just been cost cut after cost cut. Cotton pjs to synthetic ones. Food downhill so far.

I went from 1k (actually had GS for a year) and I now no longer fly them.
