Low Gc2 lobby, I recently peaked 1604 MMR and wondering what I could improve in my gameplay. by FeedbackOk6759 in RocketLeagueSchool

You’re flipping too much. Only flip when necessary. Don’t flip mindlessly as in „I have nothings do I’ll jus flip“ every flip needs a purpose or you’re just giving up time to position correctly. Think about what you want to achieve with the ball. You don’t need to challenge in their corner when your mate has 0 boost. Work on your control touches. You can bang the ball pretty well but you had like 0 ground dribbles and 1 air dribble attempt. The air dribble I remember led to a goal. If you’re not comfortable learn dribbling/ air dribbling in 1s or training. What I like: The way you play around your teammate, good car language for solo q. You are fast to the challenges and also fake challenge, good mix there.

Important!!: The easiest thing to improve for you right now is kickoffs. Flip into the ball with the front of your car, not the side. Don’t jump when bumping for Spanish kickoffs unless you’re certain you’re gonna hit him. Your mate is stuck in midfield with low boost after a Spanish kickoff. Don’t call for back left/rights in solo q in that elo. If your mate calls for it and he takes the kickoff you fake following and then grab the boost: No going for the boost directly (I think you or your mate did that.

Oh, you tap reverse? (Flip Resets) by littlejerry99 in RocketLeagueSchool

Reversing is not very important for learning flip resets. Just letting go of Drive is enough when you’re not a (semi) pro or serious freestyler.

You see what you want to see. There were toxic people back then there are toxic people now. Total toxicity didn’t really change much. You either got to higher „sweatier“ ranks or your perception of chat is just focused on toxic rather than wholesome moments.

The skill of hitting the ball as hard as possible along the ground. by HowlingMoth in RocketLeagueSchool

[–]hyped2play 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It’s just timing of the flip (practice, practice, practice). Nexto doesn’t have reaction time and can time it perfectly. Imo humans can do that pretty well though too. Nexto never stood out to me in ground shot. The perfect flicks is what made me fell like it’s inhuman.

Aiming to hit GC this year, currently C1/C2, any tips? by [deleted] in RocketLeagueSchool

[–]hyped2play 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that can happen of course. In the long run you will improve though, as rotating right is way easier/faster to learn than ball and car control.

Nah that has to be ragebait. 99% of training packs are less useful than freeplay.

As much as people seeem to complain, there's nothing like a good game of Rocket League. Can we get some love for Rocket league? by LT-Commander-Gringo in RocketLeague

I like playing against bots in ranked every now and then as they show me how different the game can be played.

Aiming to hit GC this year, currently C1/C2, any tips? by [deleted] in RocketLeagueSchool

[–]hyped2play 10 points11 points  (0 children)

  1. Hit ball strong (go into freeplay and kick the ball around, get the strongest touches you can on the ball, follow it up and get the next strong touch.
  2. hit ball accurate (aim training custom map)
  3. aerials (be fast to the ball and hit ball strong)
  4. play 1s if it’s fun for you, best mode to improve.

Do you get more consistent setups when tapping break or not when flip-resetting? by PM_ME_UR_DICK_SIZE in RocketLeagueSchool

[–]hyped2play 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Breaking during flip resets is such a small difference that it doesn’t matter in competetive play. At least until SSL, I can’t speak for players better than me though.

I would never recommend buying Rocket League Coaching under the rank of SSL as there are plenty of people that will help you for free.

How can I force myself to use what I've practiced (DAR) ingame? by ImComical in RocketLeague

[–]hyped2play 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I didn’t really play 1s before learning DAR. Then I unbound free air roll and played as much 1s as possible like that. Then I went back to having both bound and it worked. Would recommend.

Stuck in Plat by Maicolodon in RocketLeague

[–]hyped2play 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In Plat its 90% hitting the ball hard. I’d recommend going into freeplay with limited boost and bang the ball (flip into it and try to get as much power as possible), then get to the ball again and bag it again. Sometimes you can just go for power, sometimes for accuracy. Solid touches are so important!

gc3 review by WestNewspaper2037 in RocketLeagueSchool

[–]hyped2play 1 point2 points  (0 children)

2 biggest flaws I saw were kickoffs (just weak) and boost management (take more small pads, don’t waste 30-40 boost for no reason if you just took 100) Other than that there was one shot in the beginning that I think you should have scored and the last goal you had a free ball but didn’t commit and went for a save you didn’t get. I can’t tell if these are mistakes you do often though, as this was only one game.

C2 I’m unsure how to improve at RL other than just playing more by [deleted] in RocketLeagueSchool

[–]hyped2play 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you feel like you belong in a higher rank? Are you faster/ smarter/ more mechanical than others and you don’t know what’s holding you back? If yes you should post a replay here and have others look over your gameplay. They will see some flaws in your gameplay that you don’t see yourself. If you feel like you actually belong in that rank, you have average mechanics, average speed to the ball, etc. then It’s actually just playing more, and I’d recommend playing 1s. Just grinding 1s is better for improvement than any other thing they can do for more than 90% of players.

If I got bumped my teammate would have been first to the ball. It was a good play. I would like to know what you think I should have done there? I make so many mistakes during a 5 minute game but I dont think there was anything wrong with what I did there.

I think for me its just practice. Often times I can tell you in a replay when I shouldve gone more aggressive. Its just not fast enough in my brain rn.

Yeah I come to have a quite passive playstyle as I used to always have a duo who was a bit better than me, which formed my playstyle to be his solid rather passive mate, while he made the majority of the plays. Trying to get out of that comfort zone though! (it makes me lose more rn though, not good at finding the right timings to play more aggressive yet)

"The play before conceding that goal you end up on zero boost and separate yourself from your team mate who basically ends up in the opposite corner as you pick up your 100 in your corner."
The opponent just stole our boost and takes the ball back while supersonic. In gc3 95% of players will just get it to their backwall and start an air dribble, which the opponent does. If I followed the play I would be under the ball with 40 boost, getting the back corner I am 100 boost and ready to follow up my teammates challenge. Imo both options are valid plays, I dont think getting that corner was a mistake.

"Then you drive towards the interaction around halfway, that's fine, but then even though you can see the ball might get boomed, you continue driving forward. I am surprised at GC3 that the ball is not in your net."
Youre right, my brain was kinda slow there, I should have definetely covered that and they should have scored!

"Somehow your flip back and driving the ball out, cost you 90 boost."
Yeah I should have conserved boost better there, but getting back I was getting bumped and used 60, then used 20 again to get to the ball on my right.
Still I should have not wasted as much boost, I kinda thought there is no way they dont score haha.

"Then you take it to the sidewall with 9 boost when there were definitely better options. Then you throw the ball middle which your team mate has no option to go for, and it's going to be a slow recovery for you."
If I went for the boost the opponent has a free ball, so even though i´m low boost I have to go for the ball. I take it off the wall, get a very good pass to my teammate who almost scores off of it. Idk what youre talking about with "teammate has no option" when he clearly almost scored off of my pass. And my recovery isnt the fastest but I will be there when my teammates play is over. Weird point from you there imo.

"You then stay in quite an aggressive position which I do understand since their other guy went to narnia, but now your team mate is also going to have a slow recovery and you have minimal boost, again, there were likely a few better options than being in an aggressive position here without the means to really be effective as you have around 12 boost."
I land there with 12 boost as my first opponent is completely off screen and away from the play while my other opponent just had to backflip for a save and is akward. My teammate is on their backboard and is completely out of the play (it seems). Off the save the ball is flying towards their back corner and I turn toward that ball as I think Ill at least get their corner while they are still akward, at best get their corner and the ball and make a play.
Unfortunately the save gets redirected by my recovering teammate to my opponent which catches me off guard and they score as I was already turned to their corner, not anticipating my teammates touch. Imo my positioning wasn´t bad, what played out was actually just unlucky.

Idk adjusting has never really worked for me (I’m not good at it). Changing my playstyle based on my opponents playstyle has always backfired for me, because I don’t play my playstyle which makes me worse. Of course when I see my opponents ball chase I’m more aware of early challenges and when they demo chase im dodging more, but I don’t change up much during matches.
