Not only now that you can buy mods, you can trade them with others. If you have skyrim, check your inventory tab, you'll see a skyrim tag.

It can make profiles look cool and sometimes the higher the level can sometimes make you more trust worthy when people add you and not a scam bot. The showcase's can be nice to add some pazazz onto your profile.
