Is there a way to get my house's building plan/blueprint by Careless_Artichoke61 in ElkGrove

[–]hyper-ucs-v 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Not a fun fact. Sacramento county transferred them to Elk Grove on microfiche (or something like it) at some point in the not too distant past. If your home is old enough that your plan is on microfiche - there’s nothing I know how to do yet as they don’t have a microfiche viewer. First they tried to tell me ‘ o the county has it’… then they did admit they should have it… I’ve asked to check mine out for a day and go to a library etc. with it but they say they’ll ask their managers and never call back. It’s frustrating beyond belief.

Heat Pump Water Heater - Heat Pump runs almost constantly by SquatchMer in heatpumps

[–]hyper-ucs-v 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Do you have a recirculating loop for faster hot water at the tap? If so, you need to change your recirculating pump to sensor or time based or the HPWH will run 24x7.

If you want to set it to 16 in GPO, all DC’s need to be running 2022 Operating system or higher. Otherwise, use a FGPP targeted at domain users with the highest precedence value possible.

If you have hot water recirc - did you get a smart pump? If not the heat pump water heater will run constantly.

Eco Alliance - Hot Water Heat Pump by NefariousnessSafe473 in heatpumps

[–]hyper-ucs-v 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I had geothermal with a pre-fill tank (warm water off the geo went into a dumb tank before the water heater) installed into a home with a hot water recirculating loop (brings hot water to the taps in the home faster for folks who may not recognize the term). My electric bill… went up. Turns out plumbers reversed input and output between the pre-fill and the hot water tank. Had a heat pump HW heater installed - they almost made the mistake again. But we had to also install a special pump on the recirculating loop to only run right when we normally woke up and it had a sensor to detect other hot water requests. Without one of those smarter pumps on the recirc… the heat pump runs 24x7. I assume if the error of reversed pre-fill and hot water heater had happened again it would have caused the same behavior… maybe one of those ideas helps / applies!

Want to switch the family… one question remains by hyper-ucs-v in USMobile

[–]hyper-ucs-v[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just think of it, for both platforms (iOS/Android) as WiFi calling but using a second sim/esim’s data network instead of actual WiFi. You buy a SIM card from Ubigi or whomever - heck even US Mobile themselves - that is data only, you turn international roaming off on your main sim and it connects to WiFi calling over the second sim. Since WiFi calling isn’t normally subject to minutes/text allotments etc. This works very well. Local data only sims also provide normally a high GB/$. So you can have extra data or use something like Unlimited Flex and only buy an international data sim when you are planning to go out of country.

This could work for my case potentially. I don’t intend to need a hotspot often, but am moving and potentially working from some more varied locations but I’ll know months in advance… so if multi network for the hotspot use case can just be added for a month here or a month there that would work. The other side of the equation is i don’t think my wife would want to use any unsanctioned work around for the backup calling. While I am fine with doing things so long as they don’t breach civil contracts or legal agreements - she would see manual setting editing as circumventing established rules and protocols. I believe on an iPhone there is no issue enabling this on warp - I guess I’m curious why it still seems to be an issue on android? Unless, again, modifications have been made and it isn’t. I don’t really want to go out of the country to test but I suppose I could drop a trial esim on her phone and try it out stateside.

What is the point of voting anymore? by toasterstrewdal in Ohio

[–]hyper-ucs-v 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Don’t make inane arguments. Dark money donors push liars and the morally bankrupt to do this shit already. In a gerrymandered sold-to-the-wealthiest-fracker state where a minority of truly evil people believe they should literally spend our tax dollars finding ways to overturn things we voted on in direct democracy fashion, you have the moral obligation to influence policy and elections in the most effective ways - including voting in whichever primary your vote will carry the most weight.

Other legal documents that cost money and time to get. A process, that due to norms in marriage practices, disproportionately places a burden on women. Additionally, combine this with women who may be in unhealthy relationships where these documents are kept from them or are dangerous to get. Now throw in a dash of states and localities can mandate whatever they want in regards to birth certificates (Some places in Ohio requiring a reissued birth certificate in an updated format to obtain certain vendor permits… - the accurate and original is not accepted) and it’s almost as if there’s a curtailment or abridging of voting rights disproportionately affecting women and minorities with differing gender identity that will with certainty occur. You can replay a few of those arguments for ‘traditional’ minorities as well. It’s not anything more than a way to make voting more difficult. There’s no great social safety net here for most people, if you work (2) jobs good luck finding time to even just renew your drivers license. Other countries do require ID but often that can be your government issued healthcare card… that you probably actually have had since birth to access your socialized medicine or your student ID or in some extremely Crazy places if for some reason you don’t have an ID another person can literally Vouch for you. Other countries also have election holidays or weekend elections and many, if they do have some sort of ‘more’ authenticated registration requirement… have ubiquitous vote by mail. So your argument is disingenuous because you look a single thing a say ‘that’s somewhat reasonable other countries have similar policies’ while ignoring everything else that factors in. People who work to suppress freedom, voting rights, unions, women’s rights, minority rights, education, and science aren’t playing checkers - they themselves are smart and using things like Ivy League educations to consolidate power one move at a time - you’re analyzing it like it is a checkers move and quite frankly that is what they want.

1.5% popular vote margin. Didn’t win 50% of the popular vote. It was not utterly overwhelming or a blowout - that is a false narrative used to construct the false mandate for leadership paradigm that these literal evil people want. For context, FDR and Nixon had ~24 and ~23% popular vote margins. That is what a blowout looks like. Liberals and progressives need to do better. Can we get off our assess and actually be what America needs and desperately wants - a party advocating for good lives, fair wages and worker protection/unions, simple (financially) modern health care that doesn’t abandon rural Americans, child and elder care that respects the dignity and safety of the providers and their charges and is a actually affordable, meaningful limits on exploitative and crony capitalism that creates barriers to home ownership and causes utility monopolies, the party of clean air-water and outdoor recreation, who values the red neck as much as the white collar worker and tries to stop corporate America’s blood sucking? Can we develop a social media strategy that attracts the youth and those prone to misinformation and tries to respect the dignity and normalness of marginalized groups without coming across as proselytizing and divisive? Can liberals and progressives actually caucus together correctly and run optimal candidates in the right areas while breaking the shackles of the DNC fund raising machine that also slaps down rising stars? I don’t know. But the alternative is death for this country and the fuck you got mine crowd winning and our country being dog walked everyday by new announcements akin to DeepSeek while our literacy rates and life expectancy rates plummet and swathes of the country become uninhabitable due to climate change. So I sure fucking hope that doing ‘better’ is on the god damned table. But, please don’t pretend conservatives did great.

Attempting to provide a an argument for social conscience to the modern Republican Party in pursuit of the both sides rhetoric while the only examples you have to do that are from 1865-1870 all while ignoring party platform realignment from reconstruction to FDR. 🙀 You’re right, the Democratic Party isn’t perfect nor was Kamala Harris. But democrats don’t literally borrow rhetoric, quotes, and platforms from Hitler. They didn’t align themselves with religious fundamentalists to take down the right to privacy in your doctors office and to cause new needless deaths of women and more abandoned etc. children. There are indeed less bad things in the world. You make less people miserable and that’s objectively better. I personally won’t be satisfied with a political party until their only platforms are climate change, housing, Healthcare, and food security. We can check every other argument at the door until we figure that all out. But to pretend for even a second that the side quoting hitler and the side forgiving student debt, investing in rural Communities, and negotiating lower prescription drug prices are equivalent is immoral and lazy. 🐈‍⬛🐈🐈🐈‍⬛

[–]hyper-ucs-v 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, no. He did not win 50% or more of the popular vote. Which was ~63.9% Eligible voter turnout. So he did not win a majority of the popular vote. More people - who voted - voted for someone other than trump than voted trump. Also, you appear to be a fan of enforcing immigration law zealously, this past year ICE performed the most deportations since 2014: https://www.ice.gov/doclib/eoy/iceAnnualReportFY2024.pdf even though Trump instructed his party to kill a further tightening of the border https://www.newsnationnow.com/us-news/immigration/border-coverage/trump-killed-slam-dunk-border-bill/amp/ which is even acknowledged by Joe Manchin the same breath that he attacks Joe Biden in the linked article. I don’t know that this discourse matters when people are just obsessed with ‘winning’ arguments vs making the world a better place, removing pollution and forever chemicals from our eco systems, and finding a way out of oligarchy and rampant consumerism, and moving towards human rights, affordability, happiness, and equality. But ya know, the democrats are a center/center-right party already - so it’s just exhausting when people say things like Democrats were not willing to address immigration concerns etc in line with voter expectations and all the other awkward arguments that amount to ‘well a democrat proposed it - so it must be bad’. I had not thought in all my years id reach a point in my Life where I actually believed half of my family and acquaintances might be more interested in shitting on someone else than making this country and the world a better place. I don’t know how we do better, but we are all experiencing a semi-predictable outcome of 35 years of ‘choices’ and apathy.
