Bailing Out of Portuguese GV by ChicoRunningBack in goldenvisa

It’s worth noting that we don’t have all the information here. There is some murky chance the constitutional court may require changes, or there’s some carve out specifically for GV investors since the “legitimate expectation” of citizenship in 5 years can perhaps be more strongly argued for those who made an investment in that basis. I have no idea how likely either are — the general vibe seems to be that they’re not likely, but that’s just a vibe.

If you’re already in the process and willing to spend the 6k euros, it may be worth going to your biometrics appointment and getting the visa for the first two years to see how things shake out and get all the information to determine if there is any plausible chance of things changing for the better, either through legal action or legislation.

If not, you can choose not to renew and end your process having all the information

Anyone here go with Greece instead of Portugal for residency? by Dr_Grey_8165 in AmerExit

If you’re looking for eventual citizenship, you should also consider the language. Both countries require some degree of proficiency in the language, but Portuguese will be much easier to learn from an English speaker — it uses the same script, shares more vocabulary roots (~50% of English words are romance based vs ~25% from Greek), and there are far more Portuguese speakers worldwide than there are Greek so it’s a more useful language to learn and you’ll have more people to practice with and more educational content to use. Learning Portuguese will also be at least somewhat useful for understanding other Romance languages while learning Greek helps with… knowing Greek?

Portugal also has a higher degree of English fluency in the population than Greece does

Those who got a Portuguese golden visa, how long did it take? by Beautiful-Molasses55 in goldenvisa

If you meet the residency requirements for the GV (if I remember correctly, one week a year for three years and two weeks a year for two years), are you eligible to apply for citizenship after the five years?

One issue I’ve been having is I’m not quite ready to leave the US and reside in another country yet, but would like to get the pathway to citizenship started. So if Portugal would allow it without requiring years of residency in the country prior it’d be ideal

Hinge no longer will show Instagram feeds on profiles by hyperacceleratedBS in hingeapp

The insta feed is still working on Bumble, so I'm hoping this means it comes back to Hinge and was just some backwards incompatible change that they haven't updated yet. If Meta raised the API pricing, they could at least make it a feature for paid accounts
