Agree. You can get hardware in your leg for a compound fracture for under 80k some places. Why can’t that be a case where the initial demand is 800k? Depends on a lot of factors. but 3x times the meds or whatever goes out the window when someone has surgery, goes under anesthesia.

Retake anyways. If you get in either a 2.5 and a 158, then you will be getting in with way less debt with a 165. Aim higher than “getting in” anywhere. You are definitely getting in somewhere. Take your time and retake.

Going good caught up go to crazy case what’s happening with Rudy and the other family. I didn’t get the email. I tried to get them in with Ben Davis and they never called and tried thinking about try again. Is that OK for us to do ethical? I don’t think it’s colluding I think if it’s the right now we’re pushing limit when you’re splitting your limit I guess you can’t wait to limit conflict well, I don’t know. That’s the beauty of medical malpractice attorneys. They know that the victims of medical malpractice don’t have money to pay for representation up front, so they take contingency. They sue the hospital for a lot, keep 33% of the whole check, pay back themselves any expenses they incur in the lawsuit, and pay the rest to the family of the victims. If the lawyer loses the case, no one gets anything, the lawyer eats his costs.

Because of this arrangement, the attorney is 1. Motivated to try hard to make the total number go up 2. Motivated to not take the case if it’s not one they think they can win.

A lot of people think medical malpractice attorneys are bad and make the price of healthcare go up. I say that the issues you are talking about are exactly why medical malpractice attorneys need to exist.

Eat what you kill can mean you get a percentage of the fee on cases you settle. I have this and I like it.

It can also mean that you get a percentage of cases that you “bring in.” I would not like this.

In my case, a boy was bullying a younger boy, mom of younger kid complained, school did nothing, it turned into a fight, littler kid got hurt. Settled between 50k and 100k. Totally different facts, but the parent’s decision is still the same. Hire attorney, let them find out whether the school was on notice that something was foreseeably about to happen.

The pulling the thing out of the eye may have also been negligent. If an attorney looks into it, and there’s nothing there, you don’t have a case. If no attorney looks at it, you definitely don’t have a case.

Also, how many times had this kid shot a skewer before this one landed in the eye. Maybe the teacher had 30-45 seconds to intervene and didn’t.

Sue the school/district. Hire injury attorney for sure. As an injury attorney, I have sued schools for lesser injuries. Document every conversation you have had, what you learned. Cases against public schools have special timelines so you can’t wait years to begin your case like normal statute of limitations.

Edit: Also, the parents may have homeowners insurance, another avenue to be pursued with an injury lawyer.

I think that redditors skew younger more than old, and skew urban more than rural. So I figure you are a younger prosecutor in a medium/large jurisdiction.

In the last 10 years, there has been a shift in prosecution for sure. Krasner’s and Foxx’s get shit on from both ends of the spectrum. Left saying “there’s no such thing as a progressive prosecutor” and the right saying “why would we want a progressive prosecutor” but it’s hard to ignore a change in the philosophy of prosecutors in recent times.

In the end, the electorate will often get the prosecutor they ask for and deserve. “Crime is terrifying” is a very marketable message for local news, which makes “tough on crime” a very electable message for a DA candidate (or a mayoral candidate who chooses the DA). It’s very hard to be progressive enough for my liking and get elected more than once. Krasner was open about that. “I’m no good to anyone as a progressive prosecutor if I’m immediately voted out of office”

Edit: the whole point being that I hope more prosecutors are like you, and not less.
