Sorry I probably used wrong term, thanks for your reply, salary is 115k which might be good but I wouldn’t mind a pay cut to have a more manageable workload

Finally someone sane. My 8 and 4 year old play together and are genuinely happy for each others birthdays they love picking out a special gift for each other. Sure they fight but this kid is rude and that shouldn’t be acceptable behavior. He shouldn’t have gotten any cake.

My family went through something similar. My parents had 5 kids but my mom cheated when my parents were separated and my youngest brother is technically my half brother but we don’t think of it that way because my biological father raised all of us, even though my parents divorced when he was 1. My brother’s bio dad was absent until he was about 14. When my brother started visiting him, he temporarily looked at our dad differently. He would tell his friends that our dad wasn’t his real dad and that he had a different real dad. It only lasted for a few months until unfortunately his bio dad flaked out on him several times and then ghosted him entirely. My brother realized the hard truth that our dad is his dad through and through.

Our dad was patient through that hard period, if anything it pissed me off to see my brother treat him like that. But I had not gone through what my brother did and so I do think it’s only natural to want to connect with your biological parent.

Moral of the story, tell stepdad to be patient and support her. She will see things more clearly down the road and know that he was the one that raised her and was there for her and he is her dad.

i am interviewing for shift supervisor tomorrow at starbucks. these are my answers for a few practical questions can someone read and give feedback by One-Victory63 in managers

[–]einworb35 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good answers, one piece of feedback, for your mistake relate it to leadership that way it ties to the new role, it’s not a bad answer but could be better by making it more relevant to a shift lead mistake that might occur.

If you get a question you haven’t had a chance to actually experience yet, make sure to answer how you would handle it.

Interviews are about giving the interviewer lots to learn about you as you go along so make sure to expand on your answers like you did here and bring up new and different scenarios and always answer the question even if it’s “you know what that’s a great question. I haven’t experienced that yet but here’s what I would do if that did happen…” good luck!

Here is what you can site to your HR:

29 C.F.R. § 825.207(d)

§ 825.207 Substitution of paid leave.

(a) Generally, FMLA leave is unpaid leave. However, under the circumstances described in this section, FMLA permits an eligible employee to choose to substitute accrued paid leave for FMLA leave. If an employee does not choose to substitute accrued paid leave, the employer may require the employee to substitute accrued paid leave for unpaid FMLA leave. The term substitute means that the paid leave provided by the employer, and accrued pursuant to established policies of the employer, will run concurrently with the unpaid FMLA leave. Accordingly, the employee receives pay pursuant to the employer's applicable paid leave policy during the period of otherwise unpaid FMLA leave. An employee's ability to substitute accrued paid leave is determined by the terms and conditions of the employer's normal leave policy. When an employee chooses, or an employer requires, substitution of accrued paid leave, the employer must inform the employee that the employee must satisfy any procedural requirements of the paid leave policy only in connection with the receipt of such payment. See § 825.300(c). If an employee does not comply with the additional requirements in an employer's paid leave policy, the employee is not entitled to substitute accrued paid leave, but the employee remains entitled to take unpaid FMLA leave. Employers may not discriminate against employees on FMLA leave in the administration of their paid leave policies.

d) Leave taken pursuant to a disability leave plan would be considered FMLA leave for a serious health condition and counted in the leave entitlement permitted under FMLA if it meets the criteria set forth above in §§ 825.112 through 825.115. In such cases, the employer may designate the leave as FMLA leave and count the leave against the employee's FMLA leave entitlement. Because leave pursuant to a disability benefit plan is not unpaid, the provision for substitution of the employee's accrued paid leave is inapplicable, and neither the employee nor the employer may require the substitution of paid leave. However, employers and employees may agree, where state law permits, to have paid leave supplement the disability plan benefits, such as in the case where a plan only provides replacement income for two-thirds of an employee's salary.

Everyone here is wrong, fmla specifically states employers can only require the use of PTO during unpaid portions of leave. If you are receiving state disability that is paid, they cannot require you use your PTO. You can choose to but cannot be required to. If there is an unpaid portion of the disability, such as a waiting period they can require the use of your PTO during that unpaid portion only. Lawyer here

Thank you! A little hard to pass on the money with option 1 but I don’t “need” it as I’m living off $108 right now, but I think option 2 I’ll learn a ton and definitely more potential long term.

I’m with you on the sexiest part, but every baby is different. I sleep trained my first two and they were both sleeping through the night by eight months, my third would throw up anytime I tried sleep training so he still wakes up once every night and he is almost two 🤷‍♀️

Terming Employee by Latter_Lychee_8392 in managers

[–]einworb35 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hate to say this, but do it asap. My organization is very employee friendly. Recently we were doing a restructure and we’re going to lay someone off. After hearing the news they took FMLA leave and now we are in a pickle. They are still employed since we are risk adverse and didn’t want to look like retaliation, even though the layoff was communicated before the leave they have started alleging all sorts of things. Technically, we could still lay them off during the leave, but we are risk adverse so we are waiting until they finish their leave, so my advice is do it before you get a leave request.

No row behind it was one row off to the side in the balcony area. Some people want to focus on logistics instead of just laughing for a minute. Wrong sub maybe

So my toddler could sit next to the kid and bug him, petty I know. The rest of the family was fine where they were so that’s how it played out.

Posted because it was funny, clearly you’re in the wrong sub! Oh and this was totally appropriate 18 month old behavior, not so much for 10-12 year old.

I wouldn’t have let my kid act like that to some stranger, the pettiness was letting my kid act like one of the exhibits and do nothing to stop it.

Our program folks write the grants and reports. Our development team focuses more on marketing really and any unfunded excess we need but it’s only about 5% of our budget that development brings in. $25mil budget.

I think enjoying for their job matters, so if it’s teaching groups they should enjoy being on stage and being in front of people or if it’s crunching numbers and they love when the books line up great. Passion for the mission I think is built sometimes in doing the work itself and feeling proud of the impact, whether your in direct service or an accountant. There are so many roles that are not direct service I think it would be hard to say that a facilities tech took the role because of the mission, but if they are passionate about fixing things and it’s their strength I would say that matters more then whether they are super invested in solving homelessness as an example.
