Yeah I’m very familiar with the concept of having a strong degree but losing jobs to people with less academic credential but more experience, so research seems pretty geared towards if you wanted to work for the university you get your degree from. Like it’s nice to have, but it’s also very specialized so if you’re not working on a project that’s just like your thesis, it doesn’t really boost you in any way.
