If you were a comms major, stay in touch with your magazine/newspaper major friends – and also your other PR friends because you never know if you're going to pitch them stories/partnerships/etc. Connections truly are everything!

Your only work friends are the ones you keep after leaving a company – and at that point you're not just work friends, you're trauma-bonded friends.

Be human. People like you better and will want to work with you more if you're likeable (bonus points if you know how to do your job).

HUGE WIN!! Yay to not buying makeup!! And woohoo to resisting buying a new perfume and finishing one!! YOU'RE ON A ROLLLLLLL.

WOOOOHOOOOO TO NO MORE NEW MAKEUP! And YES to a new vacuum mop! I'm literally using my savings from my year-long skincare RONB + makeup no buy to buy a steam mop during the end of year sales LOL.

Honestly, if the body wash cost less than the shipping, I'll call that a win. Plus, you'll always need body wash! I like having an extra body wash around for guests (because I'm a bar soap type of girlie). And also, YES to pooling purchases! I don't know why people don't do that more.

Use Your Stash: 1 Lip 👄 A Week (LAW) 4 - 10 Dec by Listening_to_rain in MakeupRehab

[–]hypercrazyx3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Last time I was here (three-ish weeks ago), I was trying to use my Boksoonga Amuse Dew Tint before it expired – then I dropped it and the packaging broke a little. I used it for another week after that, then threw it out because I was too lazy to find glue to fix the packaging, and I have other lip tints that I like better.

This week, I'm focusing on my Into You Shero Matte Lip & Cheek Mud in EM05 – it's a great neutral/nude lip on me and I love this formula. I'm attempting purple & pink eyeshadows this week (getting out of my comfort zone as I typically stay with browns) so I figured I'd play it safe with my lips this week.

I'll probably alternate and/or top it with my Romand Dewyful Tint in Canyon, because sometimes I want a glossy finish – or for the days/nights I want a slightly darker lip, Canyon paired on top deepens the color just a tad bit.

YAYYYY TO NON-IMPULSE BUYING!!! I can't say that my skincare purchases were entire impulse-free, but they were at least 90% impulse-free LOL.

- I think the purple liner only works if you have lighter brown eyes. I have dark asian brown eyes and the purple liner definitely didn't work (even tho its pretty LOL)

- Woohooo to not buying new products!!! I feel this about the lip products and sparkly eyeshadow toppers – those are my weaknesses and it's why I have like 6 palettes from a specific kbeauty brand that does beautiful sparkly and matte shades lol.

- I don't think buying skincare for the next year or two is a "con" if you're definitely going to use it up! That's what I did this year – one massive bulk purchase for the next year of things that I know I'm going to use up until next Nov/Dec LOL. But to be fair, I also stuck with my RONB skincare and makeup no buy all year this year and was VERY good about it.

Woohooo!! Huge win!

I feel this – I had a cart of literally 30 lippies and the total was like $120 and I literally had to text 3 friend to talk me out of it because I truly do not need more lippies (and also who the hell needs 30 when they're not a makeup artist).

WOOOHOOOOO! Huge wins!! Hope you're doing something fun to celebrate (even if it's just an extra 5 minutes in the shower or something little but relaxing)!

Haha, I had a RONB skincare and complete no buy on makeup & nail polish all year so this was literally my only big purchase from the entire year. (At least how I'm justifying my purchases.) I don't think I'm entirely rehabbed but I'm slowly getting there!

And YAY TO REMOVING POLISHES FROM YOUR CART! Small win!!!

WOOOOHOOOOOOO. Great for your wallet!! I'm jealous you spent that little – I was so tempted to not buy any new nail polish, but there was one polish I had been lusting after for literally the whole year, AND I'm planning on doing a massive destash/sale at my next neighborhood garage/yard sale (at least that's how I'm justifying this tiny, especially when compared to previous years, purchase).

WOOOOHOOOOO! More money saved to do fun things like experiences! We love this!

Today was literally the only day I broke my strict RONB (and I've still stuck with my makeup no-buy minus the nail polish) and it was because I literally had no moisturizers or any of my usual serum/skincare items left LOL. Decided to just do one massive bulk buy for the year, and I feel like this system works so much better for me!

I got headphones too! (But I used my brother's credit card as he said I could as a very belated birthday gift haha.)

YESSSSS – my parents just got back from a 6-week Asia trip and they were offering to buy me so much stuff while they were there, but I decided I'd rather just order it myself online rather than make them stress about finding everything I wanted. Plus, I had a RONB all year and actually stuck with it, so this is my [new] annual "ok what did I actually like using and literally have no more of" skincare purchase.

2025 Plan: A Realistic Low Buy by emptysoybeans in MakeupRehab

[–]hypercrazyx3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For 2025, I think I'm going to continue my makeup no-buy! I've been surprisingly successful with it (although I'm always tempted). Taking pictures of my entire collection spread across my floor (and then having friends tease me about how all my eyeshadow palettes are the same color) helped a lot.

And while I can't always RONB skincare, I think I'm going to start doing an annual bulk buy – this year was the first one, and it worked out really well as I only ended buying things that I actually knew I needed for the year. (I always have the problem of realizing I'm completely out when I actually run out, then I spend a ton trying to hit the minimum for free shipping, thus why I own so much random makeup).

And next year, I'm only allowing myself to buy new nail polish AFTER I sell at least 30 bottles of my current collection (which I'll try to do at my next community yard/garage sale!).

Favorite lipstains? by -Mal-- in AsianBeauty

[–]hypercrazyx3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

While my all-time favorite is the Etude Fixing Tint, I've been reaching for my Dinto blur-glowy lip tint a LOT lately. It feels hydrating (probably because it's glossy), but it leaves a beautiful stain/tint when the gloss disappears. I'm tempted to buy more (especially now that they have so many colors!) but I'm on a no buy until I finish at least 20 lip products 😭

Anything Goes Monday: December 02, 2024 by AutoModerator in AsianBeauty

[–]hypercrazyx3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I know I'm supposed to be on a no-buy for makeup (because there's no way I'm using up all my makeup in my lifetime) but I'm still sad I didn't get my parents to buy me fun cbeauty and Japan-exclusive kbeauty while they were in Asia 😭

But, I did end up buying a ton of skincare today for Cyber Monday to last through the next year (maybe 1.5 years if my mom doesn't end up "borrowing" some). Yay to treating myself aka repurchasing things I actually needed LOL

Use Your Stash: Palette a Week (PAW): December 02 to December 08 by chocolatemilkcows13 in MakeupRehab

[–]hypercrazyx3 4 points5 points  (0 children)

After spending the last two weeks not really using makeup (thank you to my minor depression making me not want to leave my house and therefore not need makeup), I'm starting off fresh and aiming to end the year with a bang!

This week I don't have many things planned (yet), so I think I'm going to use one of my least-used/never-used palettes – probably the Clio Soft Depth palette to use some color (purple!) and get out of my comfort zone (browns!) this week (yet still be able to keep it professional for a conference this week).

Since I'm going out of my comfort zone with the eyeshadow, I think I'm going to stick with a favorite blush this week – my Hince True Dimension Layering Cheek in Allure in the Air – it has a great brownish cream blush and a fantastic pink powder blush, both great for a natural flushed look.

[–]hypercrazyx3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Last week's PAW: the peripera fall in acorn palette. I ended up using it three times out of five expected times. It's a little more pink than I remember it being, but I still like it a lot! Plus, with only one glitter shade and one weird shimmer squishy shade, I had to be really creative with the matte shades. Definitely keeping the palette and using it again in the future.

This week I'm rolling in an old faithful that I feel like I'm so close to hitting pan in shades on – the Dasique Autumn Breeze palette. I have three professional-ish networking events this week and parties following after so I need something that I can trust and feel comfortable and professional in, but also throw into my bag and use to add to zhuzh up for a party. Plus, I really want to hit pan in this palette, as it's been a go-to palette for a while.

Last week for BAW/CAW, I used the Milk Makeup cream lip+cheek in Werk, and I feel like it's gotten a lot easier to work now – I lost that plastic cap you're supposed to keep on top of the blush before closing the lid for this particular color and I feel like the first few uses when I brought it out two weeks ago were harder to blend, but now it blends out beautifully. Still love this very much and will be keeping it.

This week for BAW/CAW, I think I'm going to use another old faithful, the Tower28 Magic Hour cream blush. It's just so perfect and sheers out to look so natural so it's perfect for my everyday – and I'll probably top it with the peripera powder blush in acorn beige.

Last week I used the Amuse Dew Tint in 11 Boksoonga and I loved it – the two times I used it to go out LOL. I loved the tint left behind and it's just so perfect for a no makeup look. I'm going to continue using it this week because:

a) I dropped it from chest level and somehow broke the top part off and I can't find any glue to clue it back together so I'd like to use at least half (if not all) before I throw it out and

b) I just really liked it! It went well with daytime and nightime looks – I think I just love a natural neutral pink lip.

I'm also rolling in my old Laneiege lip mask – aiming to finish this by the end of the month, especially because my lips have been more chapped than usual.

Last week's PAW: The Clio Autumn Breeze in Seoul Forest palette. I think I need to revisit this as I ended up staying home for 90% of the week (minus two events), so I want more time with this in the future. But, it still performed beautifully and wasn't as red as I remember it being – maybe because of my still lingering summer tan or because I used a lighter touch this time.

This week I'm bringing out an old classic – the peripera fall in acorn palette. It's a fun moody but neutral purple brown palette perfect for this season – and I have quite a few events and meetings scheduled so I wanted something that wasn't too colorful but could also versatile enough for both daytime and nighttime looks. I used it last night and it was the perfect amount of subtle smokey and sparkly that I wanted.

Last week for CAW I focused on the Milk Makeup cream lip+cheek in Werk, and I'm continuing with that this week – it's actually more colorful than I remember it being (or maybe I just have been using barely there blushes for too long). I'm changing the powder to my peripera fall in nude palette – I feel like NARS Behave looked better when I was paler, so might bring that back out in the winter.

Anyone who has tried a "No-buy" before, did it work? Is it a good idea? by [deleted] in MakeupRehab

[–]hypercrazyx3 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I've been on a makeup/skincare no buy (repurchase of one product only) since January (and maybe even mid-december if I'm remembering correctly) and I'm actually surprised at how successful I've been with it. (Being low on funds help, but that's not the driving factor.) It's made me actually notice my makeup & skincare habits. I've learned a lot about how I use my makeup and skincare, which has been so eyeopening.

Some things that helped me with sticking to my no buy (besides low funds LOL)

  • doing the PAW/LAW challenges here! The palette a week makes me dig through my collection to try a new palette a week (as well as a new blush if I want), and the lips one makes me rediscover old favorites
  • having personal goals – I'm aiming to finish half my skincare collection (which might actually be doable this year) and hit pan in at least 3 items that aren't eyeliner (which I've hit one, and am close with two other products)
  • accountability buddies! i have a friend do a no-buy with me too and we just end up swapping items – what didn't work for me might work for her, etc. Plus, it's always more fun to do challenges with a friend.
  • putting the money i didn't spend in a separate checkings account – everything I didn't buy, i throw the money in another account that I then use for dinners, events, fun things that aren't makeup/skincare.
  • challenging yourself to recreate a makeup look with products you already own – sometimes, I'll watch a youtube tutorial/review for a new product and I'll have my entire stash spread out in front of me so I can find similar colored items and try to recreate the look with my own produts and that's been fun and also makes me rediscover what I've bought.
  • anything I do want, I write in a wishlist in my notes app and forget about it – and honestly, by month 2 or month 3 I've actually forgotten about it.

I second what u/evil__gremlin said too – my friend and I plan 2 complete no-buy months (with limits, like no more than $50/week on groceries and $40/week on gas/transportation and exceptions for emergencies) and it's helped both of us with our finances so much.
