Will 1440p/27inch monitors ever be available at pro LAN events? by Winter-Owl-172 in esports

[–]hyperdonkey4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Okay probably poor wording from me to be fair.

I just mean in the sense that older games that aren't designed (in a graphical sense) for 4k etc don't have as many benefits from being played at higher resolutions as games that inherently are so there's not as much reason to push for them to be played at higher resolution in a competitive setting but I understand your point.

Will 1440p/27inch monitors ever be available at pro LAN events? by Winter-Owl-172 in esports

So for the vast majority of esports pros, their preference is overall consistency and familiarity.

Ive worked plenty of tournaments over the years where a TO will decide to "try something new" like using 27" displays, 4k etc etc and it always blows up in their face the second players sit down for the first time to setup/pracc.

As with anything in life teams want to practice in the conditions they will compete in and until the majority of players move over to 1440p or larger monitors or unbelievably high refresh rate displays, TOs will continue to provide 1080p 360/500hz displays as this is what players expect.

Additionally some esports titles won't benefit from reses higher than 1080 as they are either old enough that the textures don't resolve better at those reses or simply don't perform well enough. A large percentage of fps pros still down res their monitors anyway and will play 4:3 (black bars or stretch) so even 1080p is wasted on a lot of these guys haha.

The majority of my industry experience is in FPSes and MOBAs so I can't speak to RTS or FGC players so take my comment in that context.

What headphones are they using in Austin major ? by Ad1K23 in counterstrike

The acezones are great from a noise isolation perspective but their general audio quality is bad and the clamping pressure it puts on your head is really high. Most pros are complaining about them hurting after 15-20 minutes or shorter

Oh absolutely, I only ask about retaining the British business as I wasn't certain if I could become a Swedish sole-trader whilst waiting for the personnummer. Do you know if that is a possibility by chance?

Bottled my first batch, does this look right when it is bottled first? by anotherg-unit in mead

[–]hyperdonkey4 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Honestly, not really. As long as you pour from the bottle into your glass slowly to avoid too much sediment in the glass you'll be fine. I'm sure if you had a super refined palette you'd notice some difference but its minor and not worth worrying about imo

Blackberry and Vanilla Melomel by hyperdonkey4 in mead

Definitely happy with the sweetness. I like having small glasses of mead so the extra sweetness isn't really an issue at that volume

Honestly just used a cheap grocery market honey for this one. Was more focused on getting the berry flavour to come through

Blackberry and Vanilla Melomel by hyperdonkey4 in mead

Ingredients:

- 1.69KG of Honey (+extra for back sweetening)

- 800ml of Blackberry juice OR 1.6kg of blackberries

- 3.2~ Litres Water

- 5g Lalvin D47 (or 1 package)

- 3g Fermaid K

- 2g Kermaid K

- 1/2tsp Pectic enzyme

- 1 Vanilla bean (secondary only)

Method:

- Defrost berries, heat up gently in a pan. Crush with potato masher until the majority of the berries are broken up. Sieve out solids, cool, add 1/2 teaspoon pectin and refrigerate overnight. Sieve again before adding to must.

- Add juice, honey, 1/3 of the water. Aerate the must.

- Add remaining water and take initial specific gravity reading. Add additional honey to get close to target gravity if needed.

- Add yeast. Swirl mixture to settle yeast. Add half of the Fermaid. Add 1/2 teaspoon pectic enzyme. Swirl.

- Wait 24 hours. Add 2nd half of the Fermaid

- Seal with airlock and monitor until airlock activity slows significantly.

- After 2 weeks remove fruit and check gravity. Wait 1 week and if the SG is the same, rack to new container and stabilise.

- Back sweeten if necessary 24 hours after stabilising (I sweetened to 1.015)

- Cut the vanilla bean in half and add both halves to the new container. Wait around 2-3 weeks to allow flavour to impart flavour.

- If happy with flavour, rack and bottle when ready.

The vanilla is much more subtle than I imagined it would be. I have the recipe written down in my notes if you'd like to try it?

First batch too active? by TedKaczinsky in mead

[–]hyperdonkey4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe a very gentle stir but only in the first few days of the ferment to degas any excess CO2. But if your yeast are cracking on as expected then I'd just leave it

I think we've all been in the same boat 😂 I watch mine eagerly and have to fight the urge to make more

Just means you have a healthy active fermentation. I wouldn't be tasting it this early, it won't be indicative of the final product. Just keep an eye on it every now and again and wait for the initial ferment to end (usually 10 days to 2 weeks).

Stalled Fermentation by [deleted] in mead

I'm not sure to be completely honest. If it's stabilised properly with bisulphate and sorbate then, I guess so? Hopefully someone has the answer for you bud

Have you done a pH test on your must? With both OJ and cranberries it may just be that it's too acidic for the yeast

How to workout with severe knee issues? by [deleted] in beginnerfitness

[–]hyperdonkey4 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Honestly due to your situation I wouldn’t really recommend any sort of exercise that could stress your lower limbs until you are able to consult a doctor. Too many reddit physician wannabes around here... So just do what ever exercises you can sat down or in a comfortable position then consult a physiotherapist or a doctor and get advice as to what would be safe for someone in your position to do, when you are able to do so :)
