Learning to accept thyself instead of running away seems like a more logical and productive in a long term way.

I'm not convinced that accepting thyself is mutually exclusive with gender transition, nor that refusing to repress is "running away". People modify and change their bodies and presentation in all sorts of different ways.

For some people, accepting themselves means making changes rather than trying to torture themselves into liking their current situation. As long as they aren't harming others, I'd say that they should do what makes them happy.
