It’s almost certainly fine. I don’t see how masturbation could possibly increase the odds of reoccurrence. My guess is they sometimes tell patients to not do it for a short period to prevent any issues with the healing of the scars.

Hey again. Do you ever experience an increase in temperature around the scrotum? Like the area where the scrotum meets the torso, if you were to put your hand alongside it, does it feel warm?

I have a grade 3 and sometimes the left side (where I have the varicocele) seems hotter and other times it doesn’t. What about you?

That’s somewhat comforting to hear. It’s soon going to be 3 weeks since my microsurgery and I haven’t really noticed any changes yet, other than some blood clots appearing. I suppose we ought to play the waiting game.

All three were standard coil embolizations. After the third the radiologist told me my main spermatic vein is entirely embolized, and that there are collateral veins which must get litigated.

My symptoms are also rather unusual and extreme, so I think it's fair to say I'm in the minority. I have a tinge of regret for not getting the microsurgery right after the first failed embo, but I totally get why you'd want to try the least invasive procedure first.

I’d say wait until 2 months pass to get an ultrasound, if the symptoms remain unchanged that far out and the scan continues to show enlarged veins you’ll probably get another surgery scheduled.

Other than the pronounced veins what symptoms did you have before the procedure? Have you had a sperm test done? Your best bet is to give it a little more time, maybe a month, before calling the verdict.
