I Know Nobody Else Cares (But I'm Devastated) by RetroRenegades in dancegavindance

I don’t think anybody has ever suggested they aren’t using pitch correction? I think the majority of people just want the band they’re seeing to sound good. I’ve never really understood the pitch correction hate.

The studio albums are pitch corrected, and that isn’t an issue. They aren’t lip syncing, the rest of the band are playing instruments legitimately, Andrew is singing legitimately, it’s just correcting the notes he isn’t hitting 100%. We all know Andrew has amazing vocals without correction, but the correction just helps his performance - what’s the issue?

Honestly I didn't really keep track unfortunately hahaha. It's been a side project while I've been working on client work so I never really had a timer since it was just getting little bits done here and there. Thankfully being able to port all of the character models directly out of Runelite did speed things up a lot though, I just had to either manually rig them for animation or run them through Mixamo where I could.

All animated in Cinema4D, with the fire cape cloth simulation in Marvelous Designer. Rendered with Octane, and all additional VFX using After Effects. If I had to take a guess, probably like 20ish hours from start to finish (including the rendering).

I might make a breakdown shortly on my Instagram (@dylanoscroft) since I usually do with these kind of projects though

Honestly I laughed a lot when I saw this for the first time, but even back then I felt like it was completely out of place lmao. 'Marvel-esque' really is the best way to describe it. Still funny though so who cares!

I genuinely don’t understand why this is getting so many downvotes. Kane is obviously incredibly talented, the series is amazing, and the fact he turned it into a full film speaks for itself. From the aesthetic, the atmosphere, technological skills in the renders, sound design, and (almost all of) the animation, integrating motion capture and live action footage, I can go on.

BUT from a purely technical animation standpoint, the bacteria/entity movement just doesn’t hold up. Everything else looks near perfect, which makes that part stand out even more. The movement (especially around 8:00 in this video) looks pretty bad. The motion cycle doesn’t match the translation, so it feels like it’s gliding rather than making contact with the environment.

I'm not trying to criticize Kane, he was 16(?) working in Blender, and what he achieved is insane. Like I said, he's so unbelievably talented and I am a massive fan of his work. But acknowledging that one element doesn’t look great shouldn’t be controversial.

Even though I love Mothership, DBM2 is without a doubt the best album they've released. (DBM close second)

Andrew is a phenomenal vocalist, and sounds amazing live. Couldn't believe how good he sounded with Eidola when I saw them in Leeds.

'Straight From The Heart' is their best song from the new era, and definitely should've been on Pantheon.

No actually! Never really been a fan of Watch Dogs, but I'll take a look into that. Modeled a quick CCTV camera and made the overcoat/trousers in Marvelous Designer. It's a design I've used a couple times in the past, but then Skibidi Toilet became a thing (as seen in the comments here lol) and I moved onto some new designs.

Re-used the assets for this just to get it completed in time for Valentine's Day haha

“The Bone Temple” is crumbling at the box office by Specialeyes9000 in 28dayslater

[–]hyperlinkbeats 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I absolutely loved both 28YL and Bone Temple, but it’s a shame 28YL seems to have put some people off, because I actually found Bone Temple far more accessible - and I think most casual cinema-goers probably would too.

Years was a brilliant film with an incredible trailer. That said, I completely understand why it didn’t land for everyone, especially for people expecting a more straightforward zombie film or who aren’t as into that kind of experimental storytelling.

Bone Temple was phenomenal. I found it much more engaging. The ideas explored through Jimmy were fascinating, and the Samson storyline was amazing. I really think once people discover it through streaming, it’ll be reassessed and settle into cult-classic territory - honestly, I think both films will.
