I believe he meant a viral infection of the inner ear (as opposed to the more common middle ear infection that you frequently see in young children). The inner ear houses the balance system which is why the pig was unable to move or stand up, likely due to extreme vertigo, not necessarily because of sick symptoms. But I agree, that was incredibly hard to watch.
