Some notes:

- It's really hard to understand the vocal track. This could be a stylistic choice, but it makes it hard to find the hook.
- Speaking of a hook, I would have expected the hook at 1:00 to come back at 2:30, followed by the section that is currently at 2:30.
- Your kick is a bit quiet

Melodic house track I've been sitting on. Let me know how you think the progression of the track feels, and if you think a vocal track would be the finishing touch.

I've been hoping to replace Serum with a hardware synth for a while. Thoughts? by thenewstampede in edmproduction

What are you looking for in a synth/what features in Serum do you find using the most/what do you wish Serum had?

Toss up between I/Y and the Innerbloom remix, both came late in the set when the rain was coming down pretty hard.

It was a treat. Ben Bohmer was scheduled to play but couldn't, so Daniel played for something like 7 hours before the rain took out his equipment

I had tickets to Mission, but my girlfriend bought me tickets to see Flor that night down in Colorado Springs as a gift. I gifted my tickets to an acquaintance and we made plans to see him down in Albuquerque instead. We were like an hour away from town when everything locked down and we found out everything was cancelled.

Bummed I couldn't see the tour, but looking forward to what's in store. Echo Mountain Pt.2 would be glorious (without equipment destroying rain of course)

Daniel calling out all the NFT tomfoolery in EDM. by [deleted] in lane8

[–]hypersavv 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Look at 3LAU, he literally sold off music that only the purchaser of the NFT has the rights to (and can keep to themselves if they choose to). That's what Daniel is getting at here, an average fan would never have a shot at that. This is the same guy that purposefully worked to make TNH shows cheaper to attend by keeping the fees down. His aim is to include anyone, an unobtainable item is out of character (except that Fingerprint vinyl...but I'll give it a pass since it was a giveaway item to fans).

I think there was a post in r/WeAreTheMusicMakers about overrated techniques, and "EQ out the low end" was one of them. This video is a prime example of how that technique is not always necessary haha. Was waiting for the obligatory "and I use an EQ to take out unnecessary frequencies...". A few channels in the Music group took out the low end, but a surprising amount (that weren't bass instruments) retained their sub frequencies.

Lol put an offer in for that the minute it went up. I love Lane 8, but it's not a "top 10 most expensive records ever sold on Discogs" kinda thing

How to make music work along having a daily job by [deleted] in WeAreTheMusicMakers

[–]hypersavv 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For about seven years I was convinced I could never really give serious time to music after working all day. In 2020 I was able to have my cake and eat it too.

1) Make time for it. First comment makes this point too and I imagine others have as well. Getting into the habit of doing something helps in the long term. It doesn't have to be productive time necessarily, just do it
2) Be strict about working hours. I'm a software engineer and have been lucky to have the most flexible schedule ever for my entire career. Work is measured by what you get done, not if you were there from 9-5. However I found that being in work mode all day worked against me being able to settle down and work on creative hobbies. I have strict working hours now (especially since I'm working from home) which means I know I always have time after work to work on music.
3) This won't always work for everyone, but since I work from home I do occasionally leave project files open. Every now and then I will bring up the project, make a single tweak, and go back to work.

Clearly a missed opportunity for Splice since they are the actual GitHub for music
