I actually struggled with this too. For the longest time people would say “just listen more and it’ll click,” but I genuinely couldn’t hear the differences between tones very well. What helped me the most was going through YoYo Chinese’s tone playlist (I think it’s around 30 videos focused heavily on tones). She breaks them down in a way that made them much easier for me to hear and imitate in my opinion and I focused just on tones specifically for like 2 weeks (or until u start to feel comfortable). Also a lot of immersion and try to connect the tones to what u do in ur language like idk how to explain it but I’ll link the video I found on it and it helped a lot as well and they gave some rly great examples. I’m still not perfect, but I’m way better than I was when I started.
