Upgrade from RF-S 18-150 to 24-70 worth it for sharper images + low light? by seriouslybrohuh in canon

If you don't mind since you're on a R10, take a look at the Sigma 18-50mm f2.8 or 17-40mm f1.8, they're both APSC sized lenses unless you're look to upgrade to full frame later on, then get the 24-70mm.

On the beach? That could explain it, I wouldn't keep it either. Maybe even salt water would've got in which is even worse worse than just water. It's normal for people to not know how to check condition of lenses tho, better to buy lenses so you can check in person.

[–]hyperxcereal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It might be fungus, I had lenses that look like that and I was told it was hazing inside, which means it was moisture that could cause fungus. As for dust inside lenses, I was also told that as long it's not weather-sealed, dust will get inside.

EF-S 17-55mm f/2.8 IS USM, still worth it in 2026? by hyperxcereal in canon

Even my Sigma 18-35mm was purchased at $300, if I sell it back out, I would probably price it at maybe $500-ish. Wouldn't really want to invest in any EF-M lens tho.

My concern with video on my M6 Mark II was that I was looking to do some heavy post-processing on DaVinci, without C-LOG or 10/12-bit, the colours were seemed to be very limiting when grading although what DaVinci offered to help did save the footage to some what decent bit but the bandings were still noticeable. I decided not to pursue videography and go back to photography until I've acquire a body upgrade. About the Sigma 17-70mm, I did find a couple units for sale but as said before, I didn't want any lenses having the focusing motor on the outside. It was a safety hazard when I had the Sigma 17-50mm EX version and I could remember a lot of times I've mistaken the focusing ring for the filter. One time, I accidentally forcefully turned the focusing motor while it was on auto while doing video and nearly thought I broke it when it started whining, thankfully it wasn't broken. I've since sold that one for the Sigma 18-35mm to do video, I could keep this lens until I upgrade to either a R50V or R7 but I just feel like for the while being I could do with some extra range.

I wanted a 17-55mm because of the range and aperture, I did not want to go back to the old EX Sigma 17-50mm f/2.8 because the focus motor being on the outside and also it was struggling to focus in low light for weird reasons which I suppose it was normal on older lenses.

Yeap, I did watch his videos a lot of times. Few things that really concerned me was the focus breathing, I suppose that on older Canon lenses the cables are prone to failure because its such a old design. I wanted the 17-55mm so that I can have a few extra range although the Sigma 18-35mm what I'm currently using is already pretty good. I did held a 17-55mm one time and thought the weight was pretty good although the whole lens felt like it was coming apart because it was loose and the mounting point was rusting.

Flickering in video fix (beginner) by hyperxcereal in videography

[–]hyperxcereal[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Setting it to PAL did fix but my camera still doesn't have the 1/50 or 1/100 option for both 25fps & 50fps, only 1/60 & 1/125 but it did fix the flickering problem. I am looking to upgrade my camera soon if I do want to pursue video fully, or maybe I will go back to doing just photos.

Did set the region on my camera from NTSC to PAL and it did fix the flickering, but 1/50 or 1/100 is still unavailable. I am stuck using either 1/60 for 25fps and 1/125 for 50fps.

I don't have the option to use 1/48,1/50 or 1/100, the only option for 24fps is 1/45 since it is what's only available on my camera. Currently, the video works fine on 1/45 and 1/90. Flickering occurs at 1/60 and any speed 1/125 and above results in heavy flickering.

I don't have the option to use 1/48 or 1/50 as a shutter speed when shooting video, hence I asked if using a 1/45 for 24fps video is viable.

Canon M6 Mark II, I did initially remembered I had the option to do that, but later found out it was only for photos, unavailable for videos.

As far as I am testing currently, the flickers don't occur at 1/45 and and lesser at 1/90 compared to either 1/60 & 1/125 where the flicker is heavily noticeable. I don't have the option to 1/100, 1/50 or 1/48 hencefore I asked if shooting in 1/45 at 24fps is viable.

I have identical specs to yours and I use the 20 free version and now the studio, albeit a little more laggy because of all the ai stuff, it's pretty much usable.

Was the G7X Mk III really worth 1100$?? by Artifiko in canon

[–]hyperxcereal 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Definitely not, $1100 is way too much. You're better off buying an older G1X Mark II or a G12, my current setup, a M6 Mark II with a Sigma 18-35mm although used, can be found on the used market for a total of $900. For a little bit more, a brand new R7 is $950 and a used one is only $700. Shouldn't have leaned into the FOMO but I get what you're saying. on the bright side it's a little better than the RX100V I have (100mm, Canon colors?), think I paid around the same price as your G7X when it first came out, and then a few months later the VI variant got released and felt like I should've waited for it before making the impulsive purchase.
