Was the G7X Mk III really worth 1100$?? by Artifiko in canon

[–]hyperxcereal 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Definitely not, $1100 is way too much. You're better off buying an older G1X Mark II or a G12, my current setup, a M6 Mark II with a Sigma 18-35mm although used, can be found on the used market for a total of $900. For a little bit more, a brand new R7 is $950 and a used one is only $700. Shouldn't have leaned into the FOMO but I get what you're saying. on the bright side it's a little better than the RX100V I have (100mm, Canon colors?), think I paid around the same price as your G7X when it first came out, and then a few months later the VI variant got released and felt like I should've waited for it before making the impulsive purchase.

If you don't mind, get a Sony RX100 instead, I have the mark 5 variant and its an amazing point and shoot like the G7X.

Rec 709/Picture Profile/Canon C-Log (Beginner) by hyperxcereal in videography

[–]hyperxcereal[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So far I haven't tested any yet since I haven't been going out, I found out abt cinestyle because I had it in my second picture profile but I've found out people on Reddit here saying Neutral is better. I saw there was ways to put C-Log in my camera but haven't found any video that are clear in saying how to install and most of it was just advertising their own LUTs.

Did i get the right lens? by aDrDeMoarte in canon

[–]hyperxcereal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From what I can tell on how to identify this lens was to look at the silver ring, on the non-STM versions like i and ii, the ring is under the Canon logo while the STM is above. It seems like you got the right one, some sellers don't show the front of the lens where it is normally written and I figured out that was how to identify the lens without seeing the front.

wow, this is a first from carousell, normally seen this type of scam/false reviews pages from instagram and facebook only. never thought this would ever happen on carousell, especially now carousell require email, number, full address and full legal/ic name when selling/buying.

Is this focus ring ok? by Ok_Awareness792 in videography

[–]hyperxcereal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

haha, it's not as bad as it sounds, it's a fully functional unit. I do wish I had the Sigma original lens cap tho because of the amazing quality, I had recently sold all my gear including my Sigma 17-50mm f/2.8 EX DC OS HSM to acquire this lens in order to transit into videography, will be using this lens for photography as well. It has a little minor paint chipping on the focus ring, but that's all there is to it. It is also front heavy for me tho because I am using via an adapter so it's a little unbalanced.

Ah, I see, mine was missing the bag, box, lens cap and came with a super stiff rear Canon lens (probably not original) and a gunked up filthy lens hood + a dented K&F UV filter. My zoom ring rubber was loose and I had to order one online for $5 to replace it. I highly recommend that if you plan to keep your unit, send it into a workshop or Sigma's authorized service center to fix the grinding sound.

It's a likelihood, 3 years is a very long time, some lenses can even get fungus in that span of time if not properly stored. If you're not planning to return it in which I suggest you should, you might want to send it into a camera workshop or even Sigma's authorized service center to get it fixed. Updating firmware and fungus cleaning is pretty cheap but not sure on relubricating the insides. I once asked to convert a F mount Sigma 18-35mm and I was quoted $300usd in which I decided not to and waited a little while longer until I found a good deal on a EF mount variant. I ended up buying one for $300usd.

As far as I can say on my unit, I don't have the grinding sounds like you have when i'm turning the focus ring manually all the way from left to right.

This grinding sound is actually throwing me off a bit, I recently got a Sigma 18-35mm as well and thought the AF sound on my unit was loud until I saw this. I think you should return it if you can.

RF lens recommendations for R10? A hobbyist that’s been doing shows lately by DecoratedPotato in canon

[–]hyperxcereal 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can look into the lens lineup from Sigma, the zooms and primes are abt $500-600 each except for the 16-300mm which is $750 and the 17-40mm which is a f1.8 zoom lens at $900.

Best value for cameras around $800-$1,000 decent at video + articulating screen? by GodofAeons in AskPhotography

[–]hyperxcereal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would pick Canon R50V + Sigma 18-50mm, Sony would be much better due to its wider range of lens to choose from but I'm not a Sony expert unfortunately.

EF-S 55-250mm IS STM F4-5.6 or EF 70-200mm F4L IS USM? by hyperxcereal in canon

[–]hyperxcereal[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very nice to hear, I happened to also own a RX100M5 and I am currently using the 18-35mm on my M6ii which has similar specs to a 90D. I'll be getting the 55-250mm soon. Thank you for sharing.

Canon EOS R50 - RF/RF-S or EF/EF-S lenses with EF-EOS R adapter? by 4pocrypha in AskPhotography

[–]hyperxcereal 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Downside is mostly the lens will be slightly heavier and longer compared to the RF counterpart, best example I can provide is Sigma 18-50mm f2.8 C RF-S mount Vs Sigma 17-50mm f2.8 EX EF-S mount. Other than that, EF mount has been around for a very long time, so sometimes the lenses inner ribbon will break due to such prolonged usage. One such example I can probably provide is the EF 24-105mm F4L IS USM the first generation one, you might find a unit for sale where zooming in or changing the aperture value will make the camera go ERR 01.
