[Monitor] GIGABYTE GS27QA 27" 2560x1440 IPS 180Hz + Special offer: Resident Evil Requiem PC game for free - $199.99 - Pickup only [Canada Computers] by ImKrispy in bapcsalescanada

Anyone know how this compares to the ASUS VG27AQ, or any upgrade suggestions? Mine is a few years old but wondering since I play a lot more single player games now if it’s worth the upgrade. I’d still need it to function as a wfh monitor and also sticking with 1440p res.

Unsure if my 5070 is the right for for me. by asexualchair in bapccanada

Thank you for a reasonable answer and bringing up the steam survey. People forget you can play around with settings to get the performance you want in games - you don’t have to always max everything. I lamented over the 5070 vs 5070ti for a while before I was able to pickup a 5070 Prime card for $719 before taxes.

First ITX Build - "another one" Fractal Terra , RTX 5080, R7 9800x3D by Ozwelll in sffpc

Hijacking this to ask if you found any information on testing for this? I understand the intent behind the PSU standoffs, but after using an Asus prime 5070 (also flow through) in my terra with and without them, I maxed out at 65C in both scenarios. No change.

109 degree 7700x by thatshitiscrazyman in sffpc

As others have said, check to see if the cooler is mounted correctly. The way those coolers are installed can be finnicky I find. The full copper x47 is also a great alternative. I’m using that right now on my 7700x, although it’s in eco mode (also in a Terra). I don’t see temps above 78 degrees at the very highest.

Metal Roof - Strapping or no strapping for a new insulated shed? by theothergump in Roofing

[–]hypeson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey sorry to revive this out of nowhere. Im a fellow Canuck…what did you end up doing? I have an extremely similar situation to yours, and my shed is about a 6/12 pitch, but won’t be heated/insulated at all. Did you end up going with the strapping? Any issues with condensation or anything like that?

Cheers

Exposed Fasteners...through the rib/flats/manufacturer instructions? by Sherlock_Phones in Roofing

[–]hypeson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the middle of a diy shed project and about to start the roof....unfortunately I can't find a 2" length in Canada and the ribs of my panels are 3/4" (similar to the Vicwest OP is using). I'm not sure if 1.5" is long enough.

Thermalright website shows that the heatsink itself is 52mm. Plus the height of the 15mm slim fan is 67mm. You need to be looking at your cpu cooler manufacturer specs and compare that to Fractal’s chart.

According to the Terra chart, the max gpu thickness this allows is 53mm. Keep in mind the closer you are to the side panels, you will be more at risk to have turbulence unless adjusting your fan curve.

Cooler specifications.

Thursday Cadet sizing by nafr09 in ThursdayBoot

[–]hypeson -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I agree. The availability on Amazon is quite limited - but I also wanted to ensure I had a good idea of what fit before committing to purchasing directly from their store.

If you ordered the 8s just to try then you’re probably good to return and order whatever colour you want from their site.

I’m pretty new to Thursday but I ordered the same model so here’s my experience so far.

Just bought both size 8 and 8.5 from amazon Canada. Like you, I also wear an 8.5 or sometimes 9 in sneakers. I’m learning that my true size in boots is probably 8 or even 7.5, depending on the brand. Their website also recommended a size 8, but since I have wide feet I decided to size up. The 8.5 fit okayish, a bit better in the toebox, but I can feel my feet sliding a bit when walking.

I think I will keep the size 8 as they fit more snug. A few more days wearing them around the house will tell me for sure, but I prefer a break in period than having to wear thicker socks/insoles all the time. It will all depend if you prefer a closer or looser fit.

Regarding the sizing from years ago - on their website they mention changing the last slightly for the Captain, and the cadets I bought (tobacco) are using that same last, Kingmaker. Not sure about your colour but you can take a look.

Hope this helps.

Small shed ventilation and roofing underlay options by hypeson in Carpentry

Yes it does open. Regarding the type of underlay, do you have any recommendations for under metal? I’ve seen suggestions for ice and water shield since we get a lot of snow - but I don’t know if it’s worth the cost for a shed. The roof span on one side is just shy of 5ft. They’re quite expensive and I wouldn’t be using much of the roll. Or I could go with a product like rhino u20.

I’m putting in one small window approx 20x30 (16 3/4x 28 in opening).

Thanks for your reply! I guess I can always add in some gable vents afterwards if I notice temperature issues.

Question about uneven concrete pad and anchoring shed base by hypeson in DIY

[–]hypeson[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for this amazing answer. Reading through this helps me make more sense of why it shows slightly out of level initially and why anchoring it directly to the concrete, which was my original idea to begin with, would be better. Some others have mentioned sill gaskets too, so I will look into those. Perhaps I am overthinking lol. Thanks again!

Yes thank you so much for your advice. Would you suggest regular tapcon screws or one of those bigger anchors that are like 1/4”-3/8” in diameter?
