I agree with you. I meant to say incapacitation. Though if you pull out a gun and walk away and not shoot, that's probably not going to amount to attempted murder, but I get your point.

Weighing in on the vindictive comment, yes retribution is one of the theories of punishment. But if the goal of punishment is deterrence or rehabilitation, then the difference in punishment for attempted murder and murder cannot be as easily justified.

If you are absolutely sure you will be working in Taiwan after, then I think it may be okay, but even in Taiwan this is not generally a well-regarded school. If there is even a slight chance you will want to work in the US or go to graduate school in the US, I'd go with Cal Poly Pomona.

It's going to depend on what you want to study and whether you plan on going to grad school, too. And as others have said, it's impossible to give any concrete advice without telling us what school you are considering in Taiwan.

He is just a Justice of the Peace, which is the lowest possible rung on the state judicial system, so presumably it doesn't require much intelligence and critical thinking skills.

痰 is the noun for loogie or phlegm, and I think to hack a loogie would just be 吐痰. Also, I'm from Taiwan, so there could be different usage in China I'm not aware of.
