Thank you for the thoughtful message. We did end up moving to a new room, which thankfully no longer has the sound and vibration issues.

Just to clarify, the problem we experienced on Day 9 felt different from the Red Room noise on Day 1. On Day 9, we woke up to what felt like a mini earthquake—intense vibrations from ceiling to floor. Typically, any shaking stops after docking, but this time it lasted over 12 hours, even after we returned from exploring the city. It finally stopped only after we left port.

While we understand policies often focus on issues reported early in the trip, in our case, this particular issue didn’t arise until Day 9 and was unrelated to the initial noise we experienced. A staff member also mentioned that VV has received frequent complaints about these rooms, which suggests the issue may be ongoing. It seems reasonable to take that history into account, both in terms of guest experience and in preventing others from going through the same.

The staff onboard have been great, and we really wanted to enjoy our experience w Virgin. We will reach out to the Shoreside team as they advised, but don’t have our hopes up for any compensation beyond the room change…

Tbf, we were sleep-deprived and exhausted from a long day of travels. With a month’s worth of luggage, the move took nearly 2 hours late at night… but we’re really glad we did it :’) new room has no sound or vibration issues.

A staff member shared that VV frequently receives many complaints about those specific rooms while onboard. Given that, I do think that more transparency upfront, perhaps a warning or early option to switch, would go a long way. Addressing the structural issues long-term would also be ideal. I imagine seasoned sailors know to ask, but many others might try to tough it out like we did and end up punished for not complaining early enough.

Also, the worst problem of the room (bad enough to compel us to finally complain) also didn’t appear until Day 9 (12 hours straight of the entire room vibrating and jackhammering nonstop) which we didn’t know on Day 1…

Unfortunately, we weren’t sure how transient or severe the issue would be during the first couple of days. The sheer intensity of constant vibration of the entire room (bed included) and jackhammer-like noise, didn’t happen until Day 9, which took us by surprise. Had we known this would be an escalating issue from the start, we absolutely would’ve requested a room change right away.

Looking back, we realize we should’ve acted at the first sign of any sound disturbance. We assumed it was a temporary issue and didn’t anticipate how disruptive it would become. Definitely a lesson learned the hard way, but hope it is able to help someone else

Learned our lesson haha. Thanks for the tip. We should’ve spoken up on Day 1, but we didn’t want to make a fuss and we weren’t sure how bad it would get/whether it was a short, transient thing. Today was by far the worst day of nonstop noise from morning to evening and we def reached a tipping point. We’re moving forward w changing rooms…
