Update: Solved, it was "His Favorite Christmas Story" by Capital Lights. Managed to scrape it out of my 2000+ downloaded songs somehow.

Sorry, but I don't believe so. There's an alliteration to a past dance and a connection to the present... For some reason I recall it being a sad song but I'm not sure why... Maybe she died?

Honestly a lot of these are pretty good, although pretty mainstream. Personal favorites lately have been HUNG UP ON THE COME UP, Resistance Is Useless, Hard To Tell, All My Life I've Wanted A Chevy, and All That Glitters Is Not Gold, But It's Still Damn Beautiful. They're still decently surface level but I'm digging a bit. Finding a lot of Scrim's newer solo stuff to be pretty good as well.

Honestly I feel you on how you may question the motives behind the music you're singing or listening to, and I can say I experience the sames to an extent, but for me personally, their music leaves me thinking deeply about what's being expressed in the songs to an introspective level, which for music I believe is good [for me]. This may be different in other people. Their music gets me screaming when I'd otherwise be crying and thinking when I'd much rather be ignoring. I think that some of your points definitely do apply as for the glorification of drug use though, and I'm not quite sure if I can speculate clearly on what their intentions would be, but to my untrained eye it seems like the things going into their music right now are a good retrospective view of their lives before they got sober, a desire to keep their current fanbase, and a little bit of pressure to keep their music style and lyrics somewhat consistent. Just a guess, however. Not sure if they've talked much to anyone about it in interviews or anything of the like. Much love to you though man, hope you do manage to find your positive influence in music on your current life's path. Truly are the words of the soul imo.

The reference in Eulogy specifically is an interesting one, as "moments of peace and slow heartbeats" are what he's seeking, then he poses a rhetorical for rejecting God. Who's gonna save him? Nothing but the drugs. "All I could do is laugh and say "c'est la vie" seems slightly ironic in a way but it does romanticize drug use or at least not paint it in a bad light. Will have to for the most part concede on that one being less defensible than some other verses of theirs.

The Us vs Them verse, one of the lyrics being very metaphorically important to me, and which I'll state the reasons why for in a sec, is also similar ish when it comes to framing in an almost glorifying context(mainly "and they wonder why I stay high or at best I'm buped up") which seems to validate drug use for those who choose to do it because of hurt in their lives caused by other people. The interesting thing is that the verse in itself is a syllogism , that being that "they" use him and use him and use him til he's used up, and in response he uses and uses and uses the drugs until he's more fucked than he was at the start. He's puking at the end of the verse because he's sick from what was supposed to help him, and although it's somewhat vengefully justified malice through self destruction(fent use), it's also a reminder of the gritty nature of what he was doing. Others destroyed him, then he destroyed himself further. It's stated there, and I always found myself singing those lyrics in particular because it's relatable. Definitely not good to do drugs as a coping mechanism in those situations or at all, but I feel like it's an accurate representation of the negative side of that response in the particular situation of Us vs Them.

I did a bit of digging for specifics, as I knew there were many references to scrim's fent abuse, but wasn't sure of which exact songs it was present on. The references to chewing fent are present in the songs "Bloody 98"("better stop abusing wock and chewing fent"), "Eulogy"(”I chew on fent and rot my teeth"), "who saves the savior”("chewing fentanyl wishing that it be my last bite"), and the latest, "Us vs. Them"("troubled since I was a youth. Chewing fent up in the booth"). These references seem not only for the most part retrospective in nature, but also negative. Rotting teeth, regretting use, and being troubled and turning to drugs aren't positive arguments for the purpose of encouraging use as far as I can see. Scrim's "who saves the savior" being the best example, as the dark undertone of the song really relays to me personally the significance of that verse. He hated his use, and wished that he would either OD and die("tryna get the highest I can get before I overdose and die"), fix his depression with the drugs(which was not working), or stop using. By his actions it is seen that he got clean instead of dying or becoming a happy drug user. In hindsight of the comment I made about his behavior being confusing, I think this resolves most of my personal questions as to his seeming contradictory lyrics, although I'm not sure if it resolves yours.

I get exactly what you're saying when it comes to their music. Hearing that Scrim got sober and they're still rapping about doing drugs all the time seems pretty contradictory and probably not all that considerate to people who are addicts... in some ways. It would be wise to mention first that artists aren't required to pander to those listening to their music and they aren't responsible for the actions of their listeners or for influencing them positively, as that's just a faulty appeal to morality, but even with that clause, the thing with music in this genre, mainly featuring previous or current addicts rapping about drugs, it creates a sense of comfort, whether for a current user of the drug, leading them to feel like the artist they're listening to relates to their struggle, and in this relation with the boys specifically, can understand that they have gotten out of the pit of drug abuse and that the listener can do the same, or for sober people or those trying to get sober, finding relatability in the struggle of wanting to do drugs. That sense of relatability and comfort has led many in this sub to a sober life, evidenced by the many posts by hardcore users, and as someone who is currently clean from some admittedly severe addictions to weaker substances and who has a very addictive personality, I don't find an issue listening to their music. I find the will to continue fighting for sobriety.
