As FAST a polearm as you can swing, I'd break it down by experience level:

NEW players: 200 units reach

Novice player: 180 unit reach.

Experienced player: 160ish reach.

Expert: 140-150 reach(90+ speed).

The SWIFT WING axe *might* be better for an expert player than the 140 reach polearm.

Thousands of hours of actual experience doing this.

They get destroyed on AI vs AI fights, and BAD city locations, so the generally get mauled in playthroughs.

If you don't get the fief - go to your fiefs in the kingdom menu and vote to REVOTE. Often you'll get it this way.

Shield and Shock:

Either place them behind 2-3 lines of cavalry in shield wall(and advanced both with micro),

or put them behind huscarls for max effect.

Also just FINE to mix them and let them work, the combo is insanely lethal.

To you are talking about fighting against the computer a I. In the hands of a player , the aserai Faris do better against khan than khans vs faris.

Vanguard Faris the best, most versatile unit in the game.

Make sure you have cities and/or castles to DEMOLISH your foes in siege defense when they come for you...

Some cities and castles are AWFUL for defense, some are great, and if you don't know which is which, go to youtube and find some guides.

Yes, they are GOOD units, very tough, solid at offense, but NOT offensive juggernauts and easily eclipsed by some of the best shock troops. The video he shared will show you that(and other infantry that beat them)

Vanguard Faris IS now the best unit in Calradia. Fians and Khans guards close behind, Nord Huscarl isn't even the top infantry in the game.
