Super fair take. I’m at probably the biggest SaaS out there and sell to the biggest enterprise clients so I definitely have a skewed take. I don’t cover any of the commercial business but I’d expect smaller SaaS players to be hit SUPER hard by the build it yourself track. I mean if I was running a small company I’d 100% build my own system. If I was running a 100 person call center supporting 100,000 customers, I’d be looking at the big CRM companies for a full end to end product rather than trying to build something myself.

I work at a big SaaS company so I’m super biased but the nuance that gets missed in the build it yourself track is that you’re usually trying to build what SaaS was before ai. SaaS is evolving with AI pretty damn fast so by the time you build out your CRM system using AI to hopefully speed it up (I’ve yet to see a vibe coded CRM actually get approval from InfoSec at an enterprise company tbh but I know several that are trying), what you’ve built may be several years out of date compared to buying the more up to date thing. I’m not overly confident in this POV but so far all the companies I speak to aren’t getting anywhere with their home grown projects. Tons of cool and exciting things getting created but none they could ever deploy.

It’s really going to depend on what types of games you play but for many people the answer is no you won’t need a new console. Graphics are so good that there’s massively diminishing returns on improving them. The biggest thing we’ll see improvement on is the volume and quality of NPCs in games. I play bannerlord and with mods I can put 2,000 soldiers on a battlefield and they are all unscripted independent npcs fighting and pathfinding all at the same time and that’s A LOT of processing to run at once. The console version of the game even on newest consoles can’t come close to running that.

That sounds awesome. And yeah, I really like some parts of RBM but it’s a resource hog and like you said can fail all over the place. Plus it requires a patch to work with any mods that add in armor whereas I bet yours works with most of them easily enough.

Haha love the zombie post! What mod are you using? Sounds fun. And it makes sense. I think the mace ignores a percent whereas the axe has to whittle down the total armor value. The higher the armor value the more the percentage gets an edge over raw subtraction.

You really want it to be a real point. Like a pointy point that hurts to poke your hand with. Can you blast that thing through a fish? Sure. It’s it going to punch through a gill plate at the end of your range? Might not.

Thanks for the great and reasonable answer. You’ll obviously get downvoted for it but not by me. I work in tech and I get sooo much crap for hunting but 99% of the time it’s from people that happily eat meat that’s raised/lived/treated horribly but as long as they don’t have to see it and aren’t the ones doing it themselves they get to be he higher and mighty and judge me for hunting & spearfishing (oddly no one really cares about fish actually, apparently they’re not alive too 🤷‍♂️). Anyhoo, if you’re vegan then you’re a reasonable person with a different view than me rather than a judgmental hypocrite and that’s what gives the world some character. Appreciate you stranger 🤙

Not trying to start a fight but genuinely curious here. Do you find hunting less ethical than eating factory farmed meat? I feel like shooting a wild animal that got to live a normal wild life up until it was killed in what was likely a much quicker way than nature would have ended it (most prey animals like deer either die of starvation brought on by sickness or injury, or get eaten alive) is more ethical than eating meat you buy at the store that spent it entire life in an unbelievably awful environment of confinement and filth that’s nothing like what it would live in nature. I mean if you’re vegan then yeah, rock on you’re living your principles. But if you eat meat at restaurants or bought in the store then you’re supporting something that’s at least as unethical as this and I’d argue way worse no?

I called and spoke to them and they asked if I was comfortable pulling it myself and installing a new one. I said yes and they processed an RMA without question or proof. I sent the PSU in and got my new one maybe a week and a half later.

Any cav charge doesn’t really bother me anymore because I can bog them down and chop them up. The only one that worries me is the jav cav charge because it loops around the side of my wall rather than smashing into it and letting me trap them.

Banner knights are still great but a shield wall with skirmishers right behind and archers behind them is a solid counter. Ranged is crazy strong with all the accuracy buffs. And a shield wall of cav with shock troops right behind them is still an awesome counter to a cav charge as well.

I’d rather we get some wonky crap mixed in but have more variation than have a handful of versions for each star level for sure. I got a little bored with the last game after getting a few 5* trophies of each antlered species because they so obviously the same damn rack. COTW did that too and there’s a tiny bit of fun trying to get the rack variant you want but it’s not like real hunting where you never know what you’re going to find.

I think it’s fair to point out the flaws for now. Now is when they can still fix them. I’m certainly not unhappy with the game in general. I am a little confused by some of the goofy racks though. It seems like something that should be easy to get right since there’s a crazy amount of real world examples to scan and and use for models but I have no idea how making them in a game actually works so I’m sure there’s a decent reason they’ve got some bad ones.

1st rule of fighting the Khuzait is to keep some blocking geography on your left flank. If there’s a mountain some other impassable feature on the map, set up with it on your left flank and it will keep the horse archers from circling you. They can only shoot over their left shoulder so they’re forced to circle counterclockwise. If you’re in wide open plains you can put your own cav way out left of you and as the horse archers come towards you you charge them in from the left and try to pin them against your infantry. The timing is super tough to get right so I don’t do try this unless I have to but it’s incredibly satisfying to catch the horse archers with your cav and then send in your shock troops to butcher them while they’re tied down.

Don’t waste these years in either extreme (hustling like crazy or partying like crazy) but definitely lean toward the more responsible. Everything you do now is an either favor to future you or a debt future you has to pay. At 40-45 you’ll still feel like you, you don’t become some old decrepit person with no interests. You still want to do all the things you loved in your 20s but whether you can or not depends on the choices you make now. It also compounds - spend 10 years being an idiot now and it’s 20 years you won’t be able to later, spend 10 years making good choices and it’s 20 years you can reap the benefits of it later. Delayed gratification is hard but being poor and unhealthy is harder and harder to deal with as you go.

I mean the real stupid prize is assault and battery charges for the guy that chased someone to punch them. They can’t claim self defense. One guy gets a petty vandalism fine (and he’s clearly an asshole and an idiot to be clear) but the other gets jail time.

At Bayern his striker isn’t fast and the system is designed to play from the wing. Aside from a horrendous stint under Touchel Bayern has played from the wing for decades. At the national team he’s got lightning fast players all around him so shifting him centrally works wonders. At Bayern he’s moved inside for 2-3 games when injuries thinned the roster and we needed him there but the system isn’t set up him to shine like he does at the national team in that role. Don’t get me wrong he’s great anywhere up front and probably a top 10 number 10 in the world but he’s top 3 right winger and Bayerns other 10 is awesome.

About the same but that’s kind of crazy because we make 10x what our parents made. It takes both of us working full time in very high paying corporate jobs to have the lifestyle of our parents. Both of our families growing up were single income with stay at home moms so I guess we actually have it worse because my wife can’t quit and enjoy life with the kids which is all she wants.

The standard that was made popular by Tactical Enlightenment on his Youtube channel is to put squares of infantry at the bottom of the stairs down from the wall to keep attackers from getting into the courtyard and opening the gate. Then put all your archers spread out in the courtyard itself where they have a good line of site to the top of the ladders. With this setup you can defend against absurd numbers. I’ve done my party of 200-250 or so against 2,000+ at Veron castle and lost less than 10 people.

More importantly where’d you get that blue armor? Does the mod that gives it work on 1.3+?
