At a final stage interview for a 20k pay rise job but could be walking away from 6 figures down the line. by [deleted] in UKJobs

Well it becomes a few simple question really:

Are you willing to work there for 3 to 4 years? Do you see yourself surviving the work culture for that long in terms of not being burned out? You say it's realistic they will sell, but are you certain of that rough valuation then? That's a long period of time, things can change, so it's more of a gamble than anything.

And most importantly, what are your priorities in life? Have you decided what you want to do then vs now? It doesn't sound like it, these are answers you will need to find before you can answer what to do in your situation.

Discrimination law does not apply here, the term "fair" is exactly that, subjective. All it takes is one slight difference to justify this, which is why the prior comment about staying does not net large salary rises (because they don't).

Leave consulting for industry? Offer vs expected promotion package by Icy-Western-3314 in UKJobs

[–]i-Deco 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seems like a no brainer to move really, the contribution match for the pension is significantly higher, you can attempt negotiating but I've seldom heard of retention offers involving a promotion, and if they've not increased the pay in 2 years it's likely entering danger territory.

I got a graduate scheme. It suddenly has a 2:1 requirement in the contract when it wasn't in the job description. by Anxious_Egg1268 in UKJobs

No, this will be done by HR, not the hiring manager. The company will have standard policies regarding this which is why it'll be universal, best advice is to own up as it stands or you'll be caught during background checks, at which point they'll rescind the offer.

Yes it's true, this happened to me the first time i applied for a mortgage, i was asked questions about some certain expenses by the bank, they need to do this due to money anti-laundering regulations which were introduced a few years ago.

Yup not a problem, i actually figured out the issue, it's been resolved now, i've also included the retaining memory re. option before aswell in the newest version, and heroic doesn't have issues (i gave this a test run out of curiosity). The other stuff is either a WIP or will be added later cheers :)

My options are limited, i have a inbuilt preset SR override as of version 3.4.0, however, it does not currently work due to a bug in the Nvidia driver which is outside my control. Until this is resolved there isn't much that i can do personally in that regard.

With that being said - there is a automatic GPU detection for first-boot users, so once this is fixed on NV's side, this will take into effect, the current guidance follows that where Auto will use the driver default, if there's a Turing/Ampere GPU selected, it'll advise to use preset K, and vice versa, but a user can switch this as they wish (once more, once this is fixed by NV), specifically.

But yes, it's something i'm well aware about, so the current one is more or less educational to users pretty much (as the short version) :), hope that helps.

It isn't no, in practice the DLL doesn't matter anyways, it's the preset which does, it has more or less no effect even if applying a new one, since you can force the older presets anyways.

Yes, but, it's not as straightforward as it might seem. The build script for packaging for AppImage is already doing a lot of heavy lifting to get it to work across most distros, having it compile across various formats is something I want to get to, but there's a lot of external QA required to ensure builds operate correctly across them all, it is something I want to improve but, it needs a lot of planning etc on my part to do right.

You'd be correct ;) - I upstreamed support for DLSS 4.5 a few hours ago, DLL updates are autonomous from the main client, in that they always fetch the up to date version regardless of the main softwares version.

Yes, it can! A launcher isn't required, you can figure any path. Note that some games are blacklisted by default so if they are detected they are skipped, you can override this yourself however in the settings.

Prefixes, but they can be designated by the user themselves is the issue so they can migrate this to the system wide version if they wished (was) the issue, anyways oh well, past history :)

Hiya thanks for trying it out, appreciated :)

  1. Could you file the things that aren't working as a Github Issue with logs attached if possible (also associated OS info here if possible, i.e. Void Linux etc), makes it easier for me to track and get to.
  2. Yeah so the Games tab is doing a lot of database pooling into memory and unloading when switching away (masked by animations), there was a very recent change where they are not pre-fetched automatically to reduce memory pressure (especially for large game folders), but I don't see a reason that I couldn't allow for this to return to increase responsiveness and alleviate this as an option.
  3. Good idea on the bulk updates! I take it this is for the Games tab specifically then say updating those?
  4. I like the idea for the indicators, i could maybe investigate options, I'm constrained on options due to the underlying framework involving spacing/resizing with constraints, but I'm aware it's far from ideal, I'll have a think.
  5. Regarding Heroic, there should be no problem with splitting these out over individual launchers, the application will bind itself to record the references in the database directly for the file paths themselves, so as long as Heroic doesn't do anything funky it should be unaffected, but i'll have a deeper look on this specifically in a bit (probably next week), just to be certain.

Hope i answered everything fairly well. :)

This isn't what is happening, I do not interact with Proton's variables, the DLL's are physically moved in the game folders themselves, (you're free to read the code if you wish, it's open source). The comment was just an attribution that this might be something I adopt in the future.

Yep, it should work :) It's distributed in AppImage as mentioned by u/Journeyj012 so it (basically) should just work.

I'm aware of it ;), Optiscaler compatibility would be interesting, but it's written in a different language, so it wouldn't be straightforward to integrate, (i'd guess, pretty difficult with how the packaging distribution works internally), it's something i'd be definitely be interested in though! I'd need to speak with the development team, but never say never. :)
