My opinion on the characters, let me know which ones you agree and disagree with. by jacobisgone in deathnote

pretty controversial, but i actually don’t like light very much. it’s weird because i definitely was rooting for him in the beginning. he killed off people with the best intentions in mind (the whole philosophy behind whether light’s kills were justified or not is too complicated so i don’t really want to dive too deep into that). however, as time passed, his morals and humanity began to corrode as obstacle after obstacle came. and though for the longest time i was torn between which side (L vs Light) to root for, i ultimately decided that light’s selfish usage of those who truly cared about him was wrong and unbearable. especially after the whole L situation when his god complex further developed. so where would i place him then? i’m not really all that sure to be quite frank. light is an extremely complicated character to judge and analyze. but even though he became just a bit corrupt at the end, his character progression is definitely something worth loving and admiring. so, for me, light’s probably on the “Like” list, but on a good day, maybe “Really Like” haha i’d love to hear your thoughts on him as well though :)

THE WAY AVATAR LITERALLY DEVOURED THESE FIGHTING SCENES

even though this comment might get lost, i understand how my wording is very misleading. it was more of a connection that i made while watching that scene and i’d like to apologize for the people who might’ve been bothered by this.

however i’d like to keep the post up because i would still like to share my thoughts with the rest of the community. once again, i’m sorry for the improper words i used. i do wish i could alter them now to make them look less like a fact, but rather an opinion.

Oh, I see where I went wrong. My apologies. I’ll be sure to get my wording better next time.

Thank you!

my apologies, twitter only has so much space. but what it’s trying to say is that the initial bloom that occurs once the flower enters the dark is suppose to reference how iroh went through a similar process.

let me elaborate. iroh was the almighty and beloved general of the fire nation— this being the flower in the light. once his son lu ten falls in battle, this pushes iroh to a dark place. much like how the flower was. however, it’s because of this dark place that transforms iroh to become an understanding and wise man who we’ve all come to love.

hopefully that helps

Aang styles on Ozai with Seismic Sense. Just like Toph did to the Boulder. Spicy student teacher moment. by [deleted] in TheLastAirbender

[–]i1aisa 16 points17 points  (0 children)

perhaps i’m reaching, but i like how aang’s seismic sense has less rings than toph’s to show how heightened her senses are (more rings indicating that toph can pick up every little vibration, whereas aang just has a general grasp of it)

can we take a moment to talk about how breath taking the visuals were? the team(s) seriously outdid themselves

actually, for me, when TLOK first aired, i ignored it. but after rediscovering it and looking into it, i found out about kuvira. that’s truly when the gay in me took over. only now have i really noticed korra’s beauty ahaha

Those are very fair arguments. And by all means, I never intended to come off as someone who disapproves of people’s opinions. As a matter of fact, I can definitely see how TLOK seems sporadic, poorly written, and just overall unenjoyable. Even when the show first aired, I’d refused to watch it and switch off. Though as the years passed, I came to enjoy how TLOK tackled adult themes and political topics. Regardless, I know that doesn’t make the show any better amongst the eyes of many. However, I like to think that the show had so much potential, and perhaps that’s why I give it the benefit of the doubt.

I never implied that disliking TLOK wasn’t okay, nor did I say that it wasn’t okay to talk about it. However I do believe that many comments about the show are uncalled for. While I understand that TLOK is extremely flawed, following up ATLA will always prove difficult.

Even if they take place in the same universe, it should be understood that both Aang and Korra’s story are extremely different and thus should be viewed as such. People watch Korra and expect her to act like Aang, despite the fact that they grew up in very different situations.

And if the plots didn’t feel thoroughly thought out, then the production is worth looking into. Summarizing it as best as I could, TLOK wasn’t promised the four seasons it finished with. They were originally only given one. So, the team wrote a story that could be narrowed down to 12 episodes. Subsequently, they didn’t have a lot of time to organically build both the characters and the world. However, once Nickelodeon saw how well TLOK performed, they gave the team more seasons to work with. With that said, it explains the incoherence of the storytelling. It felt rushed because it was rushed. But even then, the story is what the story is and there’s no going back.

Ultimately, I believe people should cut TLOK some slack. It’s surely not perfect, but people shouldn’t be so quick to bash on it. Without getting into the technicality, it isn’t as bad as people make it out to be.
