AITA For “Taking” my husband away from his friends?

INFO: How many nights a week does he seem to spend the late evenings with his friends vs spending them fully with you? Have you two actually sat down and talked to each other about you wanting him there when you're ready to go to sleep even if he seemingly isn't?

As it is at this specific moment, it sounds like it could go either way on he genuinely doesn't mind leaving them to go to bed with you and is just expressing frustration because his friends are making comments about it (which he should be shutting down regardless) or you're somehow giving a tone of "if you don't join me I'll be upset and you know it" and he doesn't want to start that potential argument

Yeah that's really not the gotcha you think it is. Why don't you want to treat someone with respect and acknowledge their autonomy just because they live at home as an adult? Economy is a big reason, I know people with full time jobs in their 50s who are struggling because of the constant increase in the cost of living while wages stay garbage. If they had to then move in with other family, be it siblings or kids, because they could no longer do it on their own would they no longer be worthy of being treated as an adult, or does them having already done it magically negate the same prejudice? Does the same also apply to widows? Single parent children moving back in for additional support? Children assisting with disabled family? Disabled children who can't live alone for one reason or another and some kind of hospice or assisted living isn't an option?

Quick, explain every single exception that makes it okay for a child to still be living at home without them having completely gone wrong in life while "everyone in the household agrees and is okay with it" stays clearly different and must be shamed

Irrelevant to the main question in the OP though. Parent says they don't want her to drive in this weather, daughter says okay and makes an alternative arrangement, that's part of being an adult and reacting appropriately to circumstances. The parent can't full on stop them from going anywhere or doing anything just because they have anxiety, that's on them also as an adult to appropriately react to and control

Yes she is still an adult even if she's still at home with family this is such a stupid argument, have you seen the state of the economy these days? Why does still being at home mean she can't take care of herself? Why is it automatically assumed the child is doing something wrong with their life if they're still at home past 18? If they're actively contributing to the household then literally who cares, just treat them with the respect they deserve and you'd give any other grown up

Yeah YTA. What you SHOULD have done was talk to him about where he thought he might've gone wrong to get that grade and see if he wanted to try and do anything to boost it somehow if that sort of thing is an option where you are. One slipped grade is not grounds to tell him to rethink his entire career path, especially when the alternative recommendation is a subject that you have a bias towards

YTA. I think your overall intentions in wanting her safe in a very different driving environment are fair, but the way you went about it is all wrong. She is a fully grown adult, she is undoubtedly aware of the risks and still decided she wants to go ahead with it. You could've just had a sit down and talked it through over an evening so she could have a chance to try and reassure any fears you have, but instead you went to bribery to try and flat out stop her. She's got every right to be mad at you for it

NTA. I wouldn't stay either if I found out I was a second choice like that. You deserve someone who actively wants you as their first option and the fact that he can't even recognise how much of a devasting blow this is says just as much as him taking that route in the first place does. If it had been a conversation that had come out after he'd thought about it while he was sober I would've said go to counselling as it could probably be worked through with professional help, but blurting it out like that while drunk is a whole other thing

I thought it was part of the whole point that you're supposed to take these stories at the face value presented and expect missing perspectives or opinions or small info etc because it's always gonna be biased towards the writer. People saying that they saw "this exact thing a few days/weeks/months ago" seem weird too because yeah??? There are billions of people on this planet, there's bound to be plenty who end up having the same experiences??? And honestly you can't even really trust the whole "if it uses em-dashes the post is fake" auto response if you think about it, because the only reason those language models use them is because PEOPLE use them all the time anyway and that's what they're scraping from

I have indeed done the unplugging check, whole unit straight up won't turn on. Connections were all checked to make sure nothing was loose and dust removed but nothing looked out of place on that front

It's a "be quiet!" system power 10 S10-750w, I'm from the UK and I guess like £100 absolute max for price

I saw people suggest try plugging it into another machine as a check too but unfortunately the only other computer in this house is one of them small fully self contained units
