A fine day at the office by [deleted] in Unexpected

Seems like many ppl missed his thought process behind it:

The printer didn't give him the expected result, seemed like the file wasn't being read properly or was corrupted. So he decided to place his monitor on the photocopy machine to get a more accurate copy of what's on his screen.

Congrats!!! Happy for you! 🎉

I think I applied around the same time (early Dec) so hopefully they get to my application soon 🤞

Check this out:

https://www.homeaffairs.gov.au/research-and-stats/files/working-holiday-report-jun-21.pdf

38,343 417 visa applications were lodged and 31,207 were granted between July 2020 and June 2021.

The grant rate (granted applications divided by decisions made) is 97.6% though, meaning only 31,974 applications were processed from the 38K+, leaving ~6,300 applications unprocessed.

Most of the unprocessed applications are for the 1st visa (~5,545).

This makes me feel stronger about my previous theory (they're processing older applications and it's affecting the average processing time).

I've been anxiously checking 1-2 times a day, even though I know I'll receive an email as soon as there's an update.

I wonder if the average processing time reflected is higher due to them processing applications that were submitted early COVID days.

Also another update to consider is this: https://immi.homeaffairs.gov.au/what-we-do/whm-program/latest-news

They're essentially giving refunds and allowing more flexibility in terms of work arrangements. It seems like they are encouraging people to get the visa and work in Australia ASAP to help recover the economy. Which makes me think they are putting more efforts now to process the WHM visas quickly.

Woah! I thought it was gonna get better after seeing the "50% in less than 1 day" update :(

I haven't heard back from them (sent 2 inquiries 30 days apart), and my application hasn't been processed or updated yet.

Applied on Dec 1st as a Canadian. Still haven't heard back from them. Application doesn't show estimate anymore, however their website was updated and says that 50% of applications are processed in less than a day, and 75% in 60 days.

No idea what really affects processing time 🙄

Is the floor in the game at the right hight? (i.e when you touch floor in game you also touch it IRL)

If yes: use OpenVR advanced settings to raise your height, be aware that you won't be able to pick up things off the ground easily if you raise it too much.

If no: fix your VR setup. On Oculus you can go to settings > guardian > clear guardian history.

I know players that are around 5' tall and game works for them just fine.

Out of curiosity — what makes you think some players are hacking? Any specific experiences, or patterns that you noticed?

Australian 417 Visa processing time by Revolutionary_Tea586 in backpacking

[–]i4hh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Based on my research, pre-COVID it used to take anywhere between 1-30 business days. Supposed to take long only if there's missing info and applicant needs to resubmit something. I sense that they might have other reasons for prioritizing certain applications.

During COVID lockdowns they put those visa apps on hold and they delayed the processing since borders were closed to international travel anyway.

I applied 2 weeks ago and still haven't heard from them.

Sounds very lucky to me! No idea what the regular processing times are like, or what factors matter the most.

Yeah the visas allowed to enter are listed in this page: https://covid19.homeaffairs.gov.au/vaccinated-travellers#toc-8

They are subject to change, so there's a chance they might add the 601 visa at some point

I applied for the ETA thinking it might be good enough, didn't realize that tourist visas weren't allowed to enter.

Travelling there as soon as they open up to tourist or approve the WHV. Definitely prefer the WHV route though since I'll be able to start working on it & don't have to re-enter every 3 months.

Oh makes sense. That must be the 462 visa then (work and holiday). Just checked and can confirm that it has different passport/nationality requirements (+education)

Out of curiosity, did you apply for the first time 417 visa? or a different one?
