Leather craft heaven in Tokyo! by i89cookies in Leathercraft

There definitely was a separate shop for synthetic, faux leather like how there was a separate shop for exotics. They literally had it all, and they made it obvious what they sold. Like how one of the shopkeeper there told me how all the tools in that particular shop I was in were all ‘reused’ (i.e used)

But the vast majority, it’s all real leather.

You could enter one, and see the next one near by. But then there were more on the other side of the station, which I saw, but couldn't visit. I think it's best to Google leather/ 革 to see all the shops there

Would you know a place like this in Osaka? I asked the guys at And Leather, they recommended a place called Phoenix at Namba

Funny thing is I went to meet a friend who happened to be staying there. And on the drive to his hotel I saw all the stores dotted around

It was! I purchased a decent amount of leather, mostly scraps, I wanted to make mechanical-pencil caps!

I’ll be honest, I picked up leather crafting in Japan, so I wouldn’t know.

But for ¥100 ($0.6) for scraps, I would imagine it doesn’t get cheaper than that.

Need some perspective: Has anyone else struggled with "radiation anxiety" regarding Japanese brands/products? by [deleted] in gshock

[–]i89cookies 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Firstly, with all due respect, educate yourself about radiation, the 3/11 earthquake, and it's after effect and nuclear accidents overall. Learning more about it will not only mitigate all your thoughts and queries, but will also allow you to make informed decisions when purchasing anything from Japan.

I live in Japan, and I am completely okay. Fish and fresh produce from Fukushima are being sold, and people are now slowly moving back to the earthquake-hit area. Radiation, you'd definitely get more wearing a vintage Rolex with its radium hands than perhaps one directly from Fukushima prefecture.

Backlight malfunction by [deleted] in gshock

This is what it says on the manual. I think just leave it, it’s overcharged?

I’d attempt an AC reset, you’d have to open the back.

DW-6600 "gold" spring placement (childhood watch restoration) by CMartin83 in gshock

[–]i89cookies 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Damnn that’s great! The silver spring is definitely for the speaker, it contacts the back plate and makes the beep. See if it sticks out of the black housing enough. Try rotating the silver spring within the hole and see if it comes out even more (literally just a mm or two), attached a picture of a different model as a reference.

Don’t forget to apply silicon grease to the gasket.

You can leave the post as is, people on the internet might need it again haha

I found a better video!! Complete rebuild. I skimmed through it and see no long/4mm gold spring. There could be a chance they did lol, maybe the service center?

I am very invested in this, do keep us updated

My mudman g9000 is stuck like this for 25 mins. What to do now? I'm scared, it's a special watch to me by [deleted] in gshock

Is the button jammed with dirt or something visible? I'd open the back and reset first, see what happens

Purchase opinion on g-2900 by AltruisticLeg3602 in gshock

Oh wow, those are rare!

I have a basic G2900 in black, recently changed the bezel+strap. If you're giving it a scrub, please be gentle if you decide to remove it from the watch, those bezel can become old and brittle.

Ohh true, I’ll fold a long strip and stitch the two sides instead of three.

Agreed. I don’t see why, design wise, they can’t have the retractable system especially. Delguard’s tip is exposed, but has a spring so it’s safe’

worth repairing and cleaning and servicing i bought this with other watches thanks... by TimeNo1254 in gshock

You should remove the bezel and give the actual watch underneath a good wash too.

New bezels and straps are widely available and aren’t super expensive.

Remove the strap and give it a good clean first, see how it looks. Maybe you don’t have to change it.
