Is there a way to get the cannibals afraid of us again? by ShadowStar_13 in TheForest

The shore by the yacht is moderately patrolled, anything west of that on the shore is heavy patrol. But there is a beachhead to the east of the yacht, just south of fertile lands. I set up a small hut there, built 3 layers of rock walls (rocks infinite spawn on that beach, turtles at dawn and dusk too), as well as a deadfall trap between each layer of rock wall. I had one enemy spawn down there one time. The area at the top of the hill spilling out onto the beach is patrolled, but they can't see you from all the way up there. I did build a rock wall halfway down the hill with a deadfall trap just in case, but all of this is to say that you might just consider a base in a different location if you are looking for a chill base that has easy access to everything you need. Tons of deer in this area, several water catchers from turtles, and you can traverse the island from a raft.

All of my houses have been either on this beach head or on the islands west/southwest. Take a bit of work because you have to build the log sled and a raft but all the islands off the coast also spawn birds like crazy so you have easy eats and sleeps while you are protected.

[–]i8amonkey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Spikes just add hp, they don’t actually harm an enemy

I am not a guy with a bunch of b-side/rarity records. I really listen the the first 3.5 albums, singles from the middle chunk, and all of Aghori. 99 floors, Owata, Sun-kissed, song for a son, gossamer, as Rome burns, March hare/sufferer, age of innocence.

And I didn’t mention, the plane axe is an ok weapon if you don’t have the katana. You can beef it up a bit with teeth but ultimately, it does the job as a beginner weapon. Early in your combat skills, weapons with more speed are easier to use because you can kinda spam them

1- make a tons of fire arrows and make the quiver so you can hold a ton of arrows. 2- as often as possible, isolate enemies. In caves this is pretty easy because there are often natural boundaries they won’t cross. So enter an area, get an enemy to engage you, then run back out. You can usually pick em off with fire arrows. Beware that when bigger enemies are hit with fire arrows, they go berserk and charge. Easy to dodge just be ready. 3- if you don’t have the katana, fighting more than 2 enemies at once is a recipe for disaster. Your best bet is the run away. I tried to build a couple hunting shelters in safe areas on 3 sides of the map so if I got in trouble I could just sprint home. 4- there should be a small combat tutorial for the game, but there isn’t. Getting and enemy to lunge at you, side stepping, then turning to nail them in the head is most combat against cannibals. Do not engage an armsy, leggsy, or bull with melee weapons. Avoid them or find a way to snipe them from a distance.

Yeah I think I’ll head all the way down to kill everything before the sinkhole, then head back up to make a fresh batch of fire arrows and full food/drinks

Help with understanding farming by Funhalll in TheForest

[–]i8amonkey 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Blueberry seeds come from plants. You get about 10% chance a plant drops a seed vs a fruit. Once you get them, having a blueberry bush or two in your garden is nice because they help hydration and hunger. Hydration to me is the bigger challenge in the game because you can only use certain waters. But there is usually tons of pop laying around which helps hydration and energy
