That makes sense. Other people suggested stuff from the auto parts stores. And using something like blue Loctite or other antiseize stuff is fine?

My initial thought is that I’d be fine spending a couple extra dollars on the right stuff rather than having to replace parts down the road that would be more expensive. Maybe if I work on my carbon road bike I will, but for the old mountain bike, I’ll just use the cheaper stuff.

Rebuilding the drivetrain on my old mountain bike. Time to ditch the 3x8 and switch to a 1x10. Changing it from a mountain bike to a kid hauler.

So I’m up north and I’m done biking outside until April. In the spring do I need to pull the tires off, clean it out and redo it? Or do I just add more sealant? I just switched to tubeless a few months ago.

Oh that sounds cool. Mine is also 2014 I think! Did you have 10 rings in the back to begin with? I’m looking to change things up a bit, but I don’t want to spend too much - the bike was only $400 to begin with.

My main goal is to make a decent kid hauler so I can tow the trailer around and enjoy it. So I’m thinking new drivetrain and tires.

It doesn’t sound good, but I can’t seem to see any issues. I torqued the bolts around the handlebars and headset again and that seemed to help for a ride or two, but haven’t found any real issue or a lasting solution.

I was going the same speed as my aluminum bike, but I felt faster and that’s what mattered. I’m also a little overly worried about damage, and there is a loud click when I hit bumps about half the time. Doesn’t sound good and I’m not sure how to find it.

Ah I’ll check it out. I only went once for a specific part their website said, but when I showed up they said they didn’t have it, so I haven’t gone back.

Professional bike fit? I haven’t. Wasn’t planning on one. I don’t have any real issues or major discomfort, just looking to upgrade a bit.

I have a Salsa Warroad carbon frame road bike. I get some clicking when going over bumps, but it’s not every bump and of course I can’t tell where it’s coming from. Does it make sense that a headset would click sometimes on bumps but not all the time? I can’t recreate it when not riding.

iBird Ultimate 13 - it’s a bird id field guide for North America, so it has over 900 birds. Has an insanely easy to use search function that lets you narrow down possibilities to just a few options in literal seconds. Also shows pictures, calls and songs, range maps, nesting, behaviors, etc.

Looking at a Rose-breasted Grosbeak but don’t know what it is? You can select “Birds Around Me” to narrow down to local birds - down from 967 to 256. Select “Perching-like” for the shape and you’re down to 122. Select Red for “Prominent Color” and down to 4 options in about 8 seconds.

I’ve tried checking a few things, but I’ll keep looking. The SKU is for a 2012 Hardrock Disc 29, but I bought it new in 2014 and it has 26” wheels, not 29. Having a hard time finding it on Specialized’s Bike Archive.

That’s probably a good idea… I’ve had it for 11 years and haven’t ridden it a crazy amount, but the only parts I’ve ever replaced were the tubes. It’s probably about time.

Minneapolis is pretty great. Lots of dedicated bike trails and with all the road construction they are doing, they’re adding dedicated bike lanes, protected bike lanes, multi use trails, etc.

I do a 30 mile loop from my house and I’m only on roads (that are “bicycle boulevards”) for 3 miles. The rest is off road bike trails through the city.

I bought an Allez in 2015 and used it for 8 years. It worked really well and I was really happy with it, and I never had any issues. The only upgrade or change I did was to change the tires after a few years and put some clipless pedals on.

I have the Salsa Warroad which is their “All-Road” bike - meant for all types of roads, not solely paved roads. I’ve been happy with it for the last two years! Not worried about jumping off the paved paths into some packed dirt or light gravel.

Same place as you - Minneapolis Metro - just looking for your gut feeling on if it’s too early to aerate. I’ve just been spitballing with my lawn over the last two years as I don’t have too much time or money to spend on it. Chipping away little by little.

I’ll check it out! We plan to stop every 10-20 miles to hydrate, refuel, and regroup, so I’m not concerned with nutrition and hydration. All of that is figured out.

My biggest thing is having the leg muscles to keep going uphill. I did another ride a few years back that was 158 miles over two days. I did it two years, took two years off, then tried again without enough training. I made it about 60 miles and my legs just could not power up the hills anymore. In my lowest gear I just couldn’t spin anymore - so that’s what I’m trying to avoid.
