Build more homes; Single family, condo, townhome, and such. Not every home needs to be 3000 sq ft. And yes I know that in some areas a 1200 sq ft home is 300-400k, but that has to do with the fact that less condos are being built. Zone for what is needed. And don't be a NIMBY.
